On My Block was one of the most binge-watched shows on Netflix last year. After the debut season premiered in March, Netflix waited less than a month to give season 2 the green light. The second season followed suit with a March premiere and consisted of ten brand new episodes.

The coming-of-age series centers on four teenagers from an inner-city Los Angeles neighborhood as they enter high school. The show has been praised for the way it touches on serious topics such as gangs, gun violence, and relationships. Even with the social commentary, the series still finds a way to include a multitude of funny moments.

The young cast is led by Sierra Capri, Jason Genao, Brett Gray, Diego Tinoco who have each showcased stellar performances in their own right. Jessica Marie Garcia, who plays Jasmine, has a more prominent role in the second season.

Season 2 wastes no time in answering the questions from the first season’s monumental cliffhanger. From there, the core four each deal with the traumatic event in different ways. Ruby faces struggles with PTSD while Cesar must face the repercussions from leaving the gang. Monse is preoccupied with a complex family matter for much of the season. Meanwhile, the issue Jamal’s duffle bag of money looms over the entire group.

As of now, there is no news regarding a renewal for a season 3. Netflix seemed to promote On My Block ahead of season 2 more than they did with the debut season. The series clearly has a loyal fan following and considering the season ended on yet another cliffhanger, a third season seems very likely.
