It's been a long time since Wednesday season 2 premiered in the summer of 2025 on Netflix, and we finally have an exciting update to share with fans of the hit Netflix original series starring Jenna Ortega, Emma Myers, and Hunter Doohan.

Earlier this year, we learned production on Wednesday season 3 was scheduled to begin in February 2026, and as it turns out, those reports were true. Wednesday season 3 is officially in production.

Wednesday season 3 is now filming in Dublin

The cast and crew officially started filming Wednesday season 3 on Feb. 16, 2026 in Dublin, Ireland, according to Wednesday fan account, @wensadms. What's on Netflix was first to report the news that production has begun.

Netflix hasn't officially confirmed the start of production, but that should come soon. The report cites several crew members who are posting about production starting on social media, and the pictures are right there for everyone to see.

It goes without saying that this is great news for Wednesday fans! Production finally starting means that we're going to see the new season sooner rather than later. There were rumors last fall that production was going to start sometime in the fall, but it was pretty clear that those rumors were too good to be true.

Unfortunately, Wednesday season 3 isn't coming to Netflix in 2026

While the start of production is such a good thing, we're still a long way from seeing Wednesday season 3 on Netflix. We already got the list of most of the Netflix shows confirmed to be released in 2026, but Wednesday season 3 was not on the list.

It was always a long shot when production didn't get started in the fall of 2025, but waiting until early 2026 to start filming was basically the nail in the coffin for a possible 2026 release date for the third season.

There's a lot of contradictory information about filming timelines on social media, but there's no way that Wednesday season 3 will be completed much before the end of 2026. The first season, which was actually filmed in Romania, took six months-ish to complete. The second season, which was filmed in Ireland like season 3, started in May 2024, but it didn't end until December 2024, which was about eight months.

Assuming that production takes about the same amount of time for season 3, Wednesday season 3 could wrap filming sometime in the fall of 2026. Unfortunately, that doesn't leave enough time for post-production and promotion. So, as things stand right now, there's just no way we'll see Wednesday season 3 this year. The new season is much more likely to premiere in 2027.

And, I don't necessarily think it will be an early 2027 release either. What's on Netflix reported that their sources claim a June 2027 release date is most likely right now. That's basically in line with what we've seen from most Netflix shows like this. We should see at least six to eight months of post-production and promotion before the new season is released.

So, to recap, we're not going to see the new season this year, but it should be ready to roll in early to mid-2027. We'll just have to wait and see exactly how it all plays out.

We'll keep you posted on what's next for Wednesday season 3. Outside of filming starting, we also know that Eva Green is officially joining the cast for season 3, alongside Ortega, Doohan, and Myers. We'll also see Catherine Zeta-Jones, Joy Sunday, Fred Armisen, Moosa Mostafa, Luiz Guzman, Isaax Ordonez, and more cast members return for season 3.

Stay tuned for more news about Wednesday season 3.
