The Night Agent season 4 release window widens after recent rumor gets debunked

If you have been counting down the days until The Night Agent returns to Netflix with its fourth and final season, you're not alone. The streamer dropped the third season earlier this year, and when the action thriller's official renewal for season 4 arrived, we were hit with the unexpected truth bomb that Peter Sutherland only had one more mission. It's bittersweet, but we're still excited.

The Night Agent season 4 began filming in May 2026 and wrapped up in late September, which series star Gabriel Basso promising the series finale to be "explosive." Naturally, fans are hoping to start binge-watching the show's finale episodes as soon as possible, but we know when the fourth season won't be dropping on Netflix. Don't mark your calendars for January 2027.

When Basso landed a new role in Apple TV's upcoming thriller series Guilty Creatures, there was a false report and rumor that Netflix would be kicking off the new year with The Night Agent season 4, but Matt Webb Mitovich confirmed with the streaming service via his newsletter Matt's Inside Line that the release window was, in fact, misreported. But season 4 is for sure coming in 2027.

The Night Agent season 4 confirmed for release in 2027

While Netflix cleared up the rumor that The Night Agent season 4 would be coming in January 2027, the streaming service didn't provide another release window to Mitovich. Rather, Netflix clarified that the final season is set for release "sometime in 2027." It's safe to assume the final season will drop in the early months of the year, but we'll have to wait and see when it's announced.

The first season of the action thriller dropped in March, while the second and third seasons released in January and February. Netflix clearly favors the first quarter of the year to release the series, and either February or March could once again be the prime time for the last hurrah to hit our watch lists. But since Netflix didn't specify, the streamer could even push the final season closer to summer.

Netflix's timing for the release depends on the rest of the release plans in the early half of the year, but there are lots of big original series making comebacks in 2027, like the final season of The Lincoln Lawyer, Wednesday season 3, Bridgerton season 5, and many more fan favorites. It's going to be a great year, and Peter's final mission is the icing on the cake.

In the final season, Peter will be teaming up with the new partner that was teased at the end of the third season, and we also know that we're finally getting a return appearance from Rose. Luciane Buchanan didn't appear in season 3, which was a creative decision from the creator. But since Peter's story is wrapping up, it's only right that she's coming back for closure.

Basso's new role in the Apple TV series Guilty Creatures teams up with fellow Netflix star Julia Garner and comes ahead of The Night Agent releasing its final episodes. We just might get super lucky and receive two new seasons of television starring Gabriel Basso before 2027 comes to an end. We'll have to keep checking for release updates, and we'll for sure share more new about season 4.
