There's very exciting news to share with The Hunting Wives fans, and it's probably an announcement that fans weren't expecting from Netflix until after the second season arrives later this fall. It's rare that a series gets its fate decided by the streamer before its latest season arrives, but it's been known to happen from time to time. And almost all of the time, it's good news.

Netflix surprised fans on Oct. 7 with the announcement that The Hunting Wives season 3 is officially renewed and happening. The renewal reveal comes a little under two months before the second season's premiere date on Thanksgiving, which means fans can enjoy their holiday binge-watch in November without being worried that the show can wind up canceled on a cliffhanger.

The Hunting Wives season 3 renewed ahead of season 2 release in November

Malin Åkerman, Brittany Snow, and Jamie Ray Newman appeared in a video together to make The Hunting Wives season 3 renewal announcement. As the trio of stars said in the video one by one, "One for the money, two for the show, season 3 you ain't ready!" Considering that we don't know what happens in season 2 yet, they're right that we really aren't ready for season 3!

Upon the renewal of The Hunting Wives season 3, series creator and showrunner Rebecca Cutter shared a statement with Netflix: "I'm so stoked to be heading back to Maple Brook, and I promise that once you've finished season 2, you'll be desperate to see what happens next. Buckle up, because season 3 will be even more scandalous and twisted.”

According to Deadline, The Hunting Wives season 3 is already working on casting new characters, though nothing has been revealed just yet about who these characters will be or which stars could be joining the cast next season. But the best news about the early renewal right now is the fact that the streamer will be able to keep the fan-favorite show dropping on an annual cadence.

Earlier this year, there had been chatter about The Hunting Wives season 3 already being in the works. Following the production wrap on the second season, series star Dermot Mulroney let the tease slip that the next season was being prepped. As the actor said at the time, "I think they’ve got writers in the room, and they’re cooking up a third season already. And that should begin filming in the fall. So, that’s great news for all the fans ofThe Hunting Wives."

Netflix hasn't confirmed when cameras will officially start rolling, though based on Mulroney's intel, filming will likely start sometime this fall. The second season filmed between November 2025 and March 2026, which could be a timeline the series could replicate with the third season. If production wraps by early spring 2027, that paves the way for another release in the fall.

It's hard not to get too ahead of ourselves with excitement for season 3 after receiving the news. We can already see the next cycle taking shape with the renewal confirmed, but before we can focus on what's happening with season 3, it's time to turn our excitement to what's happening next. The follow-up season finally hits our watch lists on Nov. 26, making for an extra special Thanksgiving treat.
