After The Hunting Wives made its premiere on Netflix in summer 2025 and became the latest guilty pleasure hit on the streamer, fans have been impatiently for Margo and Sophie's return in season 2. The countdown is on for their comeback this fall, and we're thankfully getting closer and closer to the second season's release on Nov. 26, which also happens to be Thanksgiving.
While all of us fans are looking forward to diving back into this twisted world, Netflix already gave us something else to be thankful for this year. Before the second season could even make its premiere, the streaming service went ahead and announced The Hunting Wives season 3 renewal. If season 2 ends with a cliffhanger, we don't have to worry about the show getting canceled.
Apart from the official trailer, fans haven't even seen a second of season 2 or know how what's going to happen in the upcoming eight episodes, but there's also some exciting updates about the third season. New details about the production status give us an advanced idea of when season 3 will hit are watch lists and reveal the next season's big behind the scenes change.

The Hunting Wives moves production to Atlanta for season 3
According to a report from What's on Netflix, The Hunting Wives season 3 will be getting a change of scenery for the first time. While the series takes place in Texas, filming has been mostly centered in North Carolina as the stand-in for Maple Brook. But production will move to Atlanta, Georgia for the third season, specifically in Great Point Studios in Douglasville.
Because of changes to the North Carolina filming incentive program, The Hunting Wives couldn't film the third season in Charlotte again like the series had for the first two seasons. Atlanta has been a hub for many television series and many are continuing to move there in recent days, including the upcoming new season of ABC's singing competition series American Idol.
For fans, the change in the show's production location won't be noticeable or interfere with the storytelling, though those familiar with the Charlotte and Atlanta locations might be able to spot the differences. Still, it's a major change for a production to face, considering how much will need to be moved between the states. But season 3 will at least be a bit closer to Texas.
In addition to learning about the new filming location for season 3, we also learned the production timeline for the next batch of episodes. Filming on the third season is expected to begin on Dec. 2, 2026 and wrap up by early April 2027. These dates could be subject to change depending on holidays, weather, and other factors, but they are in line with season 2's filming schedule.
It's too early to predict when Netflix could release The Hunting Wives season 3, especially since we haven't even watched season 2 as of this writing, but the filming dates put the series on track for another annual release. The second season wrapped in March and landed a November release date, which could happen again for season 3 unless it's pushed into December or early 2028.
We'll sure more information about season 3 when it becomes available!
