The Gentlemen season 2 gets best update yet (but there's still a catch)

If it feels like we have been waiting what feels like forever for The Gentlemen season 2, that's because the crime comedy-drama was first released on Netflix back in April 2024. That's basically a lifetime ago in Hollywood terms. But the streamer renewed the Golden Globe-nominated series for a second season in August 2024 and it's finally on the way with a brand-new update.

According to a new report, production has officially wrapped on The Gentlemen season 2 following an extensive shoot that began earlier this spring. Netflix confirmed in May that filming had started after fans had started to see star Theo James on set. Initial reports suggested that production wasn't planned to wrap until the end of November, but filming seemingly ended much sooner.

However, don't expect to see the show back on our screens as soon as possible just because filming has ended. If Netflix were the kind of streaming service that released its original scripted content weekly, perhaps production's early wrap would mean The Gentlemen season 2 would began rolling out before the end of 2025. But there's still a disappointing catch for eager fans.

The Gentlemen season 2 wraps filming ahead of 2026 release

Netflix previously confirmed that The Gentlemen season 2 will premiere sometime in 2026. Unfortunately, that hasn't changed even though filming on the new episode has wrapped well ahead of the end of 2025. We're still going to get the likely eight-episode season sometime in 2026. We have already been waiting well over a year, what's extending to two at this point?

Hopefully, we won't have to wait too far into 2026 for the release of season 2. Netflix shows typically take between five to 10 months in post-production after cameras have stopped rolling. That allows the movie magic to take place for things like special effects, dubbing the audio, correcting colors, and other things that make shows look and sound great to everyone in the audience.

The first season filmed between November 2022 and June 2023 ultimately to be released in March 2024. It's highly doubtful that Netflix would allow another period like June 2023-March 2024 to happen again, especially since it's already been so long of a wait for fans. But you never know what could happen in the post-production process and what Netflix already has on the calendar next year.

For now, the earliest we could expect to see The Gentlemen season 2 would be sometime in April 2026, but that's the absolute earliest. The most plausible option would be a late spring release or a summer 2026 release. There's a chance that if season 1's timeline sticks, we won't see the show back until fall 2026 at the very latest. Long story short, the catch is there's still a lot of waiting.
