Senna, The Madness, and 4 Netflix new releases to watch on Thanksgiving weekend 2024
By Reed Gaudens
It's time to get excited and festive, because the holiday season has officially kicked off! Over the long Thanksgiving holiday weekend, there will be lots of leftovers, lots of shopping, and lots of time to kick back and catch up on all your Netflix binge-watching. Thankfully (pun intended), Netflix has prepared a feast for our senses with its list of new release movies and shows coming this weekend.
If you're lucky enough to have a few days off from school or work, now's the perfect moment to catch up on all the shows and movies you haven't gotten a chance to check out. Maybe you still need to watch Outer Banks season 4 part 2 (bravo if you've managed to avoid spoilers!) or maybe you're having a marathon of all of the sexy new Netflix original Christmas romantic comedies.
Every streaming service will be dropping some excellent new content in line with the Thanksgiving break, and that's obviously including Netflix. The steamer has the bragging rights of a new movie starring Lindsay Lohan, Colman Domingo's latest gripping performance, an exciting biopic limited series, and the docuseries that will have everyone talking. See what's new to watch on Netflix!
Our Little Secret
Rounding out Netflix's four-week sprint of new original Christmas romantic comedies, Lindsay Lohan stars in Our Little Secret, which debuts on Nov. 27. The story revolves around a pair of exes who are forced to spend Christmas together after they discover their new significant others are siblings. Awkward! Even more awkward, they elect to keep the connection a secret, and that can only cause some very merry mayhem. Don't miss what's sure to be Netflix's best holiday rom-com of the season!
The Madness
Academy Award nominee (for Netflix's movie Rustin) and Emmy Award winner (for his role in HBO's Euphoria) Colman Domingo can do it all, and he's back to prove it as the leading star of the new thriller limited series The Madness. Domingo stars as media pundit Muncie Daniels as he becomes wrapped up in a murder case when he happens upon a body in the Poconos. It's the kind of gripping, non-stop eight-episode thrill ride that's best for holiday weekend binge-watching, and it all starts when the series premieres on Thanksgiving Day.
Senna
After you finish watching The Madness on Thanksgiving Day, keep the binge-watching going on Black Friday with the Brazilian biographical limited series Senna. Gabriel Leone stars in the titular role as celebrated Formula One racing driver Ayrton Senna. The series tracks the rising of Senna's career and the tragic ending with his death in 1994. The series contains six episodes that range at about one hour in length, but most viewers will probably race right through this one.
Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey
This year, Netflix has been in quite the true crime moment, especially in the later half of the year with the release of Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and its companion documentary. So many more true crime stories have come to Netflix, but one of the most famous American crime stories will be getting another look in Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenét Ramsey.
Nearly 30 years later, there's still no resolution to the tragic incident that saw a six-year-old murdered in her own home on Christmas. The docuseries, released on Nov. 25, focuses on the original investigation's mistakes and presents new theories that have come up as the case continues to be investigated.
