Netflix isn’t just a streaming service. It’s a powerhouse that has completely changed the way we watch TV. While other platforms stumble, Netflix keeps cranking out hit after hit, proving time and time again why it sits at the top of the streaming world. What makes it such a force to be reckoned with is that it knows exactly how to keep people hooked, entertained, and coming back for more.
Every week, it drops shows and movies that spark conversation, dominate social media, and get people talking for days on end. Take Running Point, for example. This sports comedy isn’t just a fun diversion. It’s a perfect showcase of what Netflix does best. It’s fast, chaotic, hilarious, and filled with characters you can’t help but root for (or laugh at). The first season had viewers immediately engaged, and due to its success, Netflix had no choice but to greenlight a second season.
Since the show's swift renewal back in March 2025, we've learned so much about the upcoming installment. However, we've recently received the best news yet!

Running Point season 2 is confirmed to be released on Netflix in 2026
It's really true! Running Point season 2 will be hitting everyone's screens sometime in 2026. During Netflix’s Q3 earnings call in October 2025, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos announced that 11 fan-favorite shows will be coming back with new seasons in 2026. Among the titles was Running Point, confirming that season 2 is officially on track to premiere on Netflix next year!
However, we're not all that surprised that the second season will be released in 2026. Why? Well, Running Point isn't a sci-fi show or a massive fantasy epic that requires a lot of time in post-production. It's not a show that would take long to film either.
That said, there being a shorter gap between the first and second seasons makes perfect sense. Netflix used to pump out new seasons of shows quickly in the past, but now we’ve been seeing larger gaps between installments. Fortunately, we don't have to worry about that with Running Point season 2.
Running Point season 2 wraps production
On Aug. 15, 2025, Netflix shared on its official X page that production had started on the second season. A photo featuring some of the cast was also included in the post. Since then, fans had been waiting for the next big announcement stating that production had officially wrapped. Now that moment has finally arrived. Well, not exactly.
Netflix hasn't made an official announcement, but one of the show's cast members shared this exciting news on their personal Instagram page. Actor Demetrius Perkins took to his Instagram on Nov. 5 and shared photos from the Running Point season 2 wrap party. The post's caption reads, "@netflix season 2 Wrap party! Had such a great time being able to work in this with an amazing cast & crew! Being apart of something special is a blessing! #runningpoint #fyp #godisgood."
Based on this Instagram post, it looks like the cameras have really stopped rolling on the new season. Netflix will probably make an announcement soon. However, keep in mind that the streaming giant doesn't always do this.
Elaine Ko, Mindy Kaling, Ike Barinholtz, and David Stassen created Running Point. It stars Kate Hudson as Isla Gordon, a former party girl who receives a big opportunity that could change her life. She’s been given the chance to take charge of her family’s professional basketball team. However, as she struggles to balance managing players, handling rivalries, and maintaining her personal life, she quickly discovers that running a basketball team is far more challenging than she ever imagined.
Also in the season 1 cast were Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Brenda Song, Fabrizio Guido, Chet Hanks, Toby Sandeman, and so many others. Joining the cast for the second season are Ray Romano, Ken Marino, Tommy Dewey, Richa Moorjani, Jake Picking, Blake Anderson, Duby Maduegbunam, and Aliyah Turner.
