Everyone's talking about Zendaya. Okay, that's an evergreen statement because everyone's always talking about the two-time Emmy Award winner, movie star, and fashion icon. But everyone's talking about her even more in April 2024 thanks to the release of her first leading role in a big-screen movie with the romantic tennis drama Challengers.

From director Luca Guadagnino, Challengers stars Zendaya as Tashi Duncan, a former tennis star who's become a coach. She's married to a current tennis champion who happens to be in the midst of his rut. When her husband must compete against his one-time best friend and her one-time boyfriend, matters take a complicated and unexpected turn, as previewed by the steamy trailer.

Given Challengers will be one of the most talked about movies of not only spring 2024 but of the year as a whole, viewers are likely wondering when the movie hits theaters and whether it will be available to watch on Netflix following its theatrical run. Unfortunately, the move likely will not be released on Netflix for streaming, but it will likely be available on another popular streaming service.

How to watch Zendaya in Challengers

Challengers will be released in theaters in the United States on Friday, April 26. Zendaya and the cast have been making the rounds at several premieres for the movie across the globe, with the movie making its premiere in Sydney, Australia on March 26. Before the strikes caused a delay for its release, the movie had originally been intended to release in September 2023.

Because the movie was produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and is being distributed by Amazon MGM Studios, it's highly likely that following its theatrical run, Challengers will eventually become available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. The hit 2023 film Saltburn has the same producer and distributor and hit Amazon Prime Video for streaming post-theaters.

Now, those with younger fans of Zendaya should be warned that Challengers is rated R for language, sexual content, and graphic nudity. The actress has been making a steady pivot to more mature and adult roles in the wake of HBO's Euphoria, though she surely still has younger fans from her Disney Channel days and her work in the Spider-Man movies. This one isn't one for the whole family, though.

Ahead of the film's release on April 26, Zendaya has already started to garner Oscar nomination buzz, with Variety declaring that she's definitely in the running for her first Best Actress nomination at the Academy Awards in 2025. From the trailer alone, Zendaya seemed like a lock to be in the Oscar contenders conversation. She has the star power, talent, the whole Best Actress package necessary to ring that next coveted bell in her blossoming A-list career.

If you're looking for either more Zenday content or similar titles to check out on Netflix, you can watch the talented star in the Netflix original movies Malcolm & Marie and Duck Duck Goose. She also lent her voice as Lola Bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy, which is now available on Netflix. As for movies that have similar themes to Challengers, add No Hard Feelings, Players, Hustle, and more to your watch list.
