New Netflix movies and shows coming in April 2024

Whether the weather cooperates or not, spring has officially sprung by April. If it's still a bit frigid in your area, Netflix will be delivering the sunshine in the form of its excellent new release movies and shows coming in April 2024. Between throwbacks and new titles, it's going to be a great month.

Although you might still be working your way through March's new release shows like The Gentlemen, Girls5eva, Young Royals, and 3 Body Problem by the time April rolls around, you will definitely need to make some room on your watch list for the new limited series Ripley. Apart from the month's top new series premiere, the streamer also welcomes the throwback binges we have all been waiting for with the fashionable arrive of Sex and the City.

If you're wondering what new movies are coming to Netflix in April 2024, there's a major blockbuster sequel coming in the middle of the month. The second part of Rebel Moon arrives to complete last year's epic intro movie. Beyond that major premiere, there's still lots to look forward to. Sex and the City complete series

Release Date: April 1

Even though Sex and the City isn't a Netflix original, it's still worth giving a major spotlight. It's by far one of the biggest acquisitions (maybe the biggest?!) Netflix has recently made in the conscious effort to bring more fan-favorites from other studios on board. Who would have ever imagined that HBO's ultimate romantic comedy-drama would end up streaming on Netflix? I will without question be rewatching Sex and the City with the rest of the world when it makes its Netflix debut at the top of April. There's no word yet if the movies will be back, but And Just Like That will remain exclusively on Max.

Ripley

Release Date: April 4

Fresh off a huge year with the release of the film All of Us Strangers, Andrew Scott keeps the success going with the Netflix limited series Ripley. Based on the book The Talented Mr. Ripley by Patricia Highsmith, which inspired the Academy Award-nominated 1999 film of the same name, Scott stars as the grifter Tom Ripley. He's soon swept up in a world of "deceit, fraud, and murder." The eight-episode limited series is presented in black and white and will surely be among the top titles of the month. It's also likely to be one we hear about a lot come award season.

The Upshaws part 5

Release Date: April 18

Looking for some laughs in April? The Upshaw family returns with a new batch of episodes this spring, and you can always count on them to bring a smile to your face. The six-episode part 5 completes the show's third season, which began with six episodes in August 2023. Thankfully, Netflix also renewed The Upshaws for a fourth season, which will contain 10 episodes (and likely be known as part 6). But before those episodes can bring the LOLs, add part 5 to your watch list when it arrives on April 18.

Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver

Release Date: April 19

Back in December 2023, Zack Snyder kicked off his Rebel Moon saga with the first part of the two-part introduction, A Child of Fire. Now in April 2024, the second part called The Scargiver makes its premiere. It's true, the first part wasn't met with overwhelming critical acclaim, holding a 22% on Rotten Tomatoes, but that doesn't make the followup any less anticipated by fans of the burgeoning franchise. There's even talk of the R-rated extended cuts coming to Netflix this summer. Keep your patience for those and check out Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver on April 19.

City Hunter

Release Date: April 25

Apart from Rebel Moon, Netflix's original movie slate for April looks a little lighter than months past (as of this post's original writing on March 4). But don't count out the month just yet. Manga fans will totally love City Hunter, the live-action adaptation of the fan-favorite manga, which makes its premiere on April 25. The action movie centers on Ryo, a sweeper of the underworld who takes on life-or-death challenges. Add some adventure and action to April and make sure to watch City Hunter the second it premieres on Netflix!

What's coming to Netflix in April 2024?

The highlighted new release movies and shows are some of the best offerings on Netflix in April, but those aren't the only titles you should have on your radar. There are plenty more great movies and shows to watch, including Heartbreak High season 2 and the debut of Dead Boy Detectives. The month also boasts plenty of unscripted content and docuseries, as well as shows for the littlest binge-watchers, like CoComelon Lane and Spirit Rangers.

As previously mentioned, all six seasons of Sex and the City start the month on a definite high note, and joining the beloved series are all six seasons of the USA Network's blue-sky FBI procedural White Collar starring Matt Bomer. The throwbacks are hitting our watch lists in full force this spring, and Netflix is just getting started.
