Now that the Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver is out, people are wondering what's next for award-winning film director Zack Snyder. Well, he's not done making content for Netflix. We can tell you that. In fact, he has an upcoming adult animated series called Twilight of the Gods set to be released on the streamer later this year. Below, we shared all there is to know about the show, including the release window.
Originally announced in 2019, Twilight of the Gods is being marketed as an "anime-style" adult animated series set in the world of ancient Norse mythology. Xilam Animation serves as the animation studio behind the show with Snyder co-creating it with Jay Oliva and Eric Carrasco. Synder, Oliva, Deborah Snyder, and Wesley Coller also serve as executive producers while Carrasco is signed on as a producer. In addition, Synder directed two episodes with Oliva directing as well.
While plot details were intially being kept under wraps, Synder did eventually provide some information about what the show will be about. He spoke with Collider back in December 2023, and this is what he said about the Twilight of the Gods plot.
"It’s basically this: there’s a king and his queen in a small Viking village, and they want to get married. An event happens to them at their wedding that causes Sigrid, who is the bride to be, who is the child of giants, to go on a crazy mission of revenge. She enlists a cast of characters - a seer, a dwarf - and they come together to form a band that has this one mission to find a god and fight him . It’s a mission, it’s a revenge story. Sigrid is this beautiful, very Scandinavian kind of cold but passionate character that I’ve really enjoyed working through and with because she’s just so cool. "Zack Synder

Like many other Netflix originals, the adult animated series will consist of eight episodes. Unfortunately, the episode runtimes are unknown at the moment. Don't worry, though. Once we find out, we'll be sure to let you know right away. So, when is the show coming out? While the streaming giant hasn't set an official release date just yet, it has revealed a release window.
According to Netflix, all eight episodes of Twilight of the Gods will be released on the streaming platform in fall 2024. So, that's anywhere from Sept. 22 to Dec. 21. Hopefully, the show is given a September release because we would rather see this series sooner rather than later. As soon as Netflix announces the official release date, you'll be the first to know. Who knows, maybe the streamer will announce the release date at the upcoming Annecy Film Festival, which is set for June 12. At this event, Netflix will be releasing several major sneak peeks of its upcoming titles, and Twilight of the Gods is one of the shows included in the lineup.
That's all we know about the adult animated series at the moment. We'll come back and share more information about the show as it's released. New clips from the series will be shown at the Annecy Film Festival, and we'll make sure to share them once they drop. So, that's something exciting to look forward to.
