Warning: MAJOR spoilers ahead from Emily in Paris season 4 part 1.

Emily in Paris season 4 arrived fashionably late to Netflix on Aug. 15, with the first part of the season debuting after delays caused by last year's Hollywood labor strikes. It's been a minute since we caught up with Emily and her Parisian personal and professional misadventures, but it only takes a second to click back into the colorful and chaotic world of Emily Cooper.

In Emily in Paris season 3, Emily was dating Alfie, the dashing British businessman, though their relationship came to a screeching halt during Gabriel and Camille's thwarted wedding. When Camille jilted Gabriel over concerns about his feelings for Emily, Alfie followed suit and broke up with Emily over the same concerns that she had cheated on him.

Well, what happens between Emily and Alfie in Emily in Paris season 4 part 1? Are they able to put that dust up behind them and get back together, or have they officially called it quits and moved on? Let's answer one of the new season's most pressing cliffhanger questions.

Here's your final spoiler warning before we dive right in!

Emily and Alfie don't get back together in season 4 part 1

Unfortunately for Emily and Alfie shippers, the pair do no get back together or end up together in Emily in Paris season 4 part 1. But it's not for lack of trying. In the beginning of the season, Emily still has feelings for Alfie (and Gabriel) and she wants him to know that she didn't do what he thought she did. However, he's still hurt from the whole situation.

Ironically, Emily and Alfie are still at the center of Julien's "love is in the air" marketing campaign for AMI, which hinges on them being a couple and kissing for the kiss cam at a tennis match. Alfie's frustration with Emily nearly causes Julien's campaign to be a disaster, but Alfie makes it by Emily's side in time to share a kiss for the cameras. They have a bit of closure, but still don't get together.

When Emily plans a masquerade party to celebrate a new fragrance launch, Alfie's against the masquerade party idea until he bumps into Camille. She apologizes for breaking him and Emily up, but he concedes that he won't stand in her way to be with Gabriel. Ever the pot stirrer, Camille informs Alfie that Emily and Gabriel have had ample time to get together and haven't. The wheels are turning.

During the masquerade party, Alfie's galvanized to win Emily back and they dance together. He apologizes for how he acted at the tennis match and puts on the moves to make her swoon. But then Gabriel surprises Emily at the party. After a brief talk with Mindy, she knows she has to make a final choice between both men, and she chooses to be with Gabriel.

Alfie later thinks that he's confessing his true feelings to Emily, telling her that he wants to be with her and he made a huge mistake letting her go. He even thinks he kisses her! But... it's not Emily. It's another woman she's working with who happened to be wearing the same outfit and a similar hairstyle. He realizes it's not Emily and watches the real Emily leave the party with Gabriel.

For Alfie fans, it's disappointing to watch him yet again lose out on love with Emily, but hey, you can't fight the power of true love. The masquerade party sequence in episode 3 is the last time we see Alfie in Emily in Paris season 4 part 1, as Lucien Laviscount isn't a series regular. He could still be back in part 2 for some closure and other storylines, so stay tuned to see what's next!
