Wednesday season 2 currently on track for release sometime in 2025

Turn up the volume on "Goo Goo Muck" or Lady Gaga's "Bloody Mary" and break out your best Wednesday Addams choreography! We finally have a bit of confirmation on when to expect Wednesday season 2 on our watch lists thanks to Netflix's CEO Ted Sarandos.
On Thursday, July 18, Sarandos spoke during Netflix's Q2 earnings call, speaking directly to investors about the achievements the streaming service has recently made. But the streamer's boss also revealed some release plans for a handful of Netflix's most highly anticipated shows, including Wednesday. According to the CEO, the second season will be released in 2025.
Toward the end of the earnings call, Sarandos dropped some news that interested fans, seemingly revealing a few release windows. The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 and Virgin River season 6, previously believed to drop in 2025, appear to be set for releases this year, while Wednesday joins Stranger Things season 5 and The Night Agent season 2 (apparently) in 2025.
Here's what Sarandos said about Netflix's 2025 releases:
"Looking forward through 2025, you’ve got new seasons of Wednesday, Stranger Things, and The Night Agent. And, we’re in production on One Piece, so there’s a ton of excitement there just in our series."
- Ted Sarandos
Beyond the recognition of the series' release years, Sarandos didn't offer any additional information on when they would drop in their respective years. No hints at which month or even what quarter of the year. But it's still exciting news nonetheless! Obviously, release dates and timeframes are subject to change, as Netflix fans know all too well.
In all honesty, Wednesday season 2 not coming until 2025 shouldn't be surprising to the show's fans, since the follow-up season to the Emmy Award-nominated, pop culture phenomenon debut season has faced multiple delays. Between both the writer's and actor's strikes and Jenna Ortega's busy schedule as an in-demand star, filming didn't begin in Ireland until May 2024.
Production looks likely to continue through at least August 2024, though production could take a bit longer than it's rumored. Netflix will surely clue fans in on when filming has officially wrapped. However, after filming is completed, there's still months' worth of post-production, which includes editing, audio dubbing, and other aspects that take a bit of time to make the show perfect and ready for viewers to watch on Netflix.
The first season filmed between September 2021 and March 2022, ultimately hitting Netflix for a release in November 2022. While Wednesday season 2 could technically release by late spring or sometime in summer 2025, Netflix might opt to again drop the series in the fall. But we're keeping our fingers crossed for a release sooner than later.
Stay tuned for more Wednesday news and updates from Netflix Life!
