The Night Agent season 2 release month might have just leaked on Instagram

Ever since The Night Agent's explosive premiere on Netflix back in March 2023, the hit Netflix original series has had a rollercoaster ride to season 2. After being renewed five days after its premiere, The Night Agent season 2 has been confirmed to release in 2024, and then later pushed back to 2025 after the strikes' impacts. But now new information suggests a 2024 release is back on the table.

On Sept. 2, The Night Agent Instagram page shared a fan-edited video of Gabriel Basso as Peter Sutherland set to Mariah Carey's hit song "Obsessed." In the comments, a fan inquired whether season 2 would be "approaching really really fast," to which the page's admin responded, "November is the anticipated release." That's potentially just two months away!

Adding to the possibility of The Night Agent season 2 returning in 2024 rather than sometime in 2025, actor Michael Malarkey, who's joining the cast as a new character named Markus, shared on his Instagram story on the same day that season 2 is coming soon and post-production had been completed. The show's Instagram page reposted his post on its story, too.

The Night Agent could be back in 2024 after all

When the strikes were resolved before the end of 2024, The Night Agent looked to be one of the few shows to avoid further delays by getting back to work in early 2024. Filming on the follow-up season was completed in June 2024, paving the way for a release by the end of the year, but Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos left the show off his list of upcoming originals coming in 2024 during a recent earnings call.

In the wake of the strikes, release patterns have been touch-and-go, with some shows returning in full and others dropping in batches to make up for the decrease in content. Most recently, Netflix released Bridgerton season 3 and Emily in Paris season 4 in two parts, and this fall, Outer Banks season 4 will follow suit with its own two-part release.

Thankfully, The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 avoided its second two-part drop in October, but until an official announcement comes from Netflix, fans won't know what's in store for The Night Agent season 2. If the show does happen to release in November 2024, we would bet that all 10 episodes will drop at the same time instead of being split in two.

As long as The Night Agent season 2 can completely finish up in post-production, as has been suggested on Instagram, Netflix has plenty of room on its November 2024 lineup. Currently, the streamer doesn't have a series release on the calendar for Nov. 21, which would put the series in the perfect position to take advantage of the following week's Thanksgiving holiday. We'll have to wait and see what's in the cards for Peter's triumphant return.
