Let the countdown begin because not only is Outer Banks season 4 coming in 2024, but we now officially know when John B and the Pogues will return for their next season of treasure-hunting antics!
Our favorite pogues will be returning for a new adventure on October 10, 2024, as Netflix releases the first part of the new season. That's right, I said part. Netflix has decided to release season 4 of Outer Banks in two parts with Part 1 arriving on October 10, 2024, and Part 2 dropping a few weeks later on November 7, 2024.
This split season release is something that is becoming more and more common for Netflix, which has begun releasing many of its biggest shows in parts rather than dropping shows' full seasons at once. The split season structure has worked for some shows with a perfectly planned midseason finale helping to bridge the season; however, it's killed the momentum for some series -- so let's hope Outer Banks is the former.
With a premiere date set for season 4, we should get an official trailer soon and we wouldn't be shocked if our first full look at the season arrived during Geeked Week, which returns Sept. 16. Netflix will be revealing new information about several of its biggest series during the event including new looks at upcoming seasons, so it would make sense for Netflix to drop the Outer Banks trailer during the event.
In the meantime, there is a new teaser for the season which gives us our first look at what's to come this season:
Outer Banks season 4 will be a fresh start for the Pogues
Season 4 is going to be an interesting season for the show as it essentially will bring about a soft reboot of sorts for Outer Banks. As fans will recall, the third season of the show brought a conclusion to the show’s initial storyline centering around the Royal Merchant and the search for the $400 million worth of gold bars that were said to be lost with the ship.
After John B. and the Pogues found the treasure in the lost city of El Dorado, there was an 18-month time jump and they finally were recognized by those who had doubted them and also caught the eye of another fellow treasure hunter.
The season ended with the Pogues being approached by a mystery man who asked for their help in finding the lost treasure of Blackbeard. The man basically pulled them aside to show them the 1718 captain’s log belonging to Edward Teach aka Blackbeard, hinting that the fourth season will find the Pogue embarking on a new treasure hunt to find Blackbeard’s treasure.
With the Pogues embarking on this new adventure, the show will get to begin a new narrative of sorts that will allow for new dynamics being explored. We also have that time jump which means there is potential a lot has happened between the Pogues in that year-and-a-half and the group is also older now. Oh, and we also know that they have resources they didn’t have in the past which could make for some interesting changes to the storytelling.
Either way, we know the Pogues are coming back on October 10, 2024 with Part 1 and we can’t wait to see what adventures await them in season 4!
