We finally have great news for fans of Netflix's hit legal drama series The Lincoln Lawyer. While the streaming service previously set the series' third for a release in 2025, we no longer have to wait that long. The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 will make its premiere on Oct. 17, 2024!

Netflix announced the release date news on Aug. 21 and unveiled a number of first look photos from the upcoming season, which tease Mickey Haller back in the courtroom taking on Glory Days' murder case as well as a photo of him and Maggie getting a little up close and personal.

Watch the official season 3 trailer in the video below!

Unlike season 2, which debuted in two parts in July and August 2023, the 10-episode third season of The Lincoln Lawyer will be released all at once in October. That's right, there's no split season this time around, so you don't have to wait a month or more to find out how the season ends.

The first season adapted Connelly’s second novel in the series, called The Brass Verdict, while the follow-up season adapted the fourth, The Fifth Witness. Lana Parrilla and Yaya DaCosta joined Garcia-Rulfo, Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, and the rest of the cast for season 2’s shocking new case. Season 3 will be based on the book The Gods of Guilt.

The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 release date and news

As previously mentioned, The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 will release on Thursday, Oct. 17 on Netflix. The 10 all-new episodes drop at midnight PT, which is 3 a.m. ET. If you have been waiting for over a year to watch the new season, you might be tempted to start watching ASAP!

On Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023 Netflix officially announced that The Lincoln Lawyer had been renewed for season 3. The renewal came less than a month after the drop of The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 part 2 on Aug. 3. Both parts of the second season further cemented the Netflix original series as a success, raking in 40 million views and hitting the top 10 in over 80 countries, per Netflix.

There are seven total Mickey Haller books in Michael Connelly’s series, leaving three yet to be adapted after season 3: The Reversal, The Law of Innocence, and the 2023 release Resurrection Walk. (The series skipped the titular first novel.) Depending on its success, the series could adapt many more of these stories beyond season 3.

Filming wrapped in June 2024

On Jan. 18, Netflix announced that the cast and crew were back on set to film the highly anticipated third season. It was also reported that the new season will adapt the fifth book in The Lincoln Lawyer book series, The Gods of Guilt. After about six months of filming, production concluded by June 2024 and post-production began.

Upon the renewal for season 3, Netflix announced The Lincoln Lawyer’s next chapter would again contain 10 all-new episodes. However, at the time, the streamer did not reveal whether season 3 would be split into two parts like season 2. Because that strategy appeared to work in the show’s favor, we were inclined to assume Netflix will again split season 3 into two parts, but fans are surely relieved that the season will be released binge style.

New and returning cast members

Along with the renewal, Netflix revealed Manuel Garcia-Rulfo will be back as the beloved Mickey Haller, and also confirmed a handful of other fan-favorite cast members for season 3. Take a look at the confirmed season 3 cast below:

  • Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller
  • Becki Newton as Lorna
  • Jazz Raycole as Izzy
  • Angus Sampson as Cisco
  • Yaya DaCosta as Andy Freemann
  • Elliott Gould as Legal Siegal
  • Krista Warner as Hayley
  • Fiona Rene as Glory Days
  • Devon Graye as Julian La Cosse

On Feb. 29, Netflix revealed four new cast members joining the season 3 cast: Merrin Dungey, Allyn Moriyon, John Pirruccello, and Philip Anthony-Rodriguez. Dungey, who like season 2's Lana Parrilla also played a Once Upon a Time villain, will portray Judge Regina Turner. She's a more progressive judge, but that doesn't mean her rulings will be in Mickey's favor.

Moriyon takes on the role of Eddie Rojas, a former babysitter of Mickey's daughter and a fitness professional who turns to Mickey when he needs representation. Pirruccello will be Mickey's next prosecutor to take on in the courtroom, and Anthony-Rodriguez appears as the Chief Deputy District Attorney Adam Suarez. Andy will have her work cut out for her again with Adam.

On March 26, Netflix announced four more castings for season 3, which includes one familiar face. That familiar face? Jon Tenney as Mickey's father, Mickey Haller Sr. The other additions to the new season are Michael Irby as DEA Agent James De Marco, Maisie Klompus as Annabeth Stephens, and Wolé Parks as David Lyons.

We also learned some information about Neve Campbell returning as Maggie in season 3.

Neve Campbell will be in season 3 (and season 4!)

Initially, we reported that Neve Campbell wouldn't be in the third season because of information we had gotten from The Hollywood Reporter. But this information turned out not to be true. When Netflix announced that the show was back in production, it also announced that Neve Campbell would be returning for season 3 in a recurring role. The streamer even shared some first-look images of the new season which included her. However, Neve will only appear in a flashback scene this season.

Here's what showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez had to say about Neve Campbell's return as Maggie.

"We decided that a fun (and poignant) way to come into the season would be via a flashback sequence that gave us some insight into how Mickey Haller became Mickey Haller — not just the brilliant criminal defense lawyer, but the husband, the father, and the man that he would come to be. These images of a young Mickey finishing up surfing before a life-changing day at work, as well as cuddling on the couch with his wife Maggie after putting their young daughter Hayley to bed, are from a pair of these flashback scenes that bookend the first episode and propel us into the rest of Season 3."

While Campbell might not be in as many season 3 episodes as fans would like, the star revealed that should The Lincoln Lawyer be renewed for season 4 (and it's a safe bet that Netflix will do so), she has committed to appear in the season in a series regular capacity. The book that's likely to inspire a potential season 4 has a much bigger role for Maggie, leading to Campbell returning for a full season. Stay tuned for more news and updates on the show's future as they're announced.

Spoilers ahead from The Lincoln Lawyer season 2!

How did The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 end?

In the final moments of season 2, after the resolution of Lisa’s case for Mitchell Bondurant’s murder, Mickey meets with Julian Lacosse, a new client in jail. He’s been accused of killing his friend Giselle Dallinger. When Mickey meets Julian, he says Giselle spoke highly of him, but Mickey has no idea who he’s talking about.

Mickey identifies the body of the deceased, and he’s heartbroken to discover it’s Gloria Dayton, otherwise known as Glory Days. The second season ends on the cliffhanger of Glory Days’ supposed murder, which has a personal connection to Mickey. Since season 3 will adapt the book The Gods of Guilt, it will likely follow Julian’s trial for murder.
