Calling all Sofia Carson fans! The amazingly talented actress has just been cast in a new Netflix movie. Unfortunately, it's not the movie we've all been hoping for, which is Purple Hearts 2, but anything Sofia stars in is bound to be a hit.
This will be Sofia's fifth project at Netflix with the dance comedy-drama film Feel the Beat being her first, the animated film My Little Pony: A New Generation being her second, the smash hit musical romance film Purple Hearts being her third, and the upcoming action thriller Carry-On being her fourth.
It's a romantic comedy titled The Life List. If you're wondering why the movie's title sounds familiar, it's probably because you read the book it's based on. It's based on Lori Nelson Spielman's 2013 novel of the same name which is about a young woman setting out to complete her old list of childhood goals. The book even went on to become a No.1 international bestseller.
Here's the official book synopsis via Lori Nelson Spielman's website:
"Brett Bohlinger seems to have it all: a plum job, a spacious loft, an irresistibly handsome boyfriend. All in all, a charmed life. That is, until her beloved mother passes away, leaving behind a will with one big stipulation: In order to receive her inheritance, Brett must first complete the life list of goals she’d written when she was a naïve girl of fourteen.
Grief-stricken, Brett can barely make sense of her mother’s decision—her childhood dreams don’t resemble her ambitions at age thirty-four in the slightest. Some seem impossible. How can she possibly have a relationship with a father who died seven years ago? Other goals (Be an awesome teacher!) would require her to reinvent her entire future. As Brett reluctantly embarks on a perplexing journey in search of her adolescent dreams, one thing becomes clear. Sometimes life’s sweetest gifts can be found in the most unexpected places."
American filmmaker Adam Brooks is behind the new rom-com for Netflix and will be writing the screenplay and directing. Brooks is best known for writing and directing the romantic comedy flick Definitely, Maybe. He signed on as an executive producer for the movie as well as Hutch Parker, Margaret Chernin, and Kerry Orent. In addition, Liza Chasin will be producing for 3dot Productions. This film falls under her first-look deal with Netflix which went into effect back in 2019.
The Life List follows a young woman by the name of Alex Rose. After her mom sends her on a quest to complete her childhood bucket list, Alex finds herself on a journey where she'll uncover family secrets, find romance, and discover herself along the way.
Cast
Sofia takes over the lead role as Alex Rose. Joining her in the cast are Kyle Allen (A Haunting in Venice), Sebastian de Souza (Fair Play), and Connie Britton (The White Lotus). All of their roles are undisclosed at the moment. But if we had to take a guess on who they will be playing, we would say Britton is playing Alex's mom, and Allen and de Souza will be playing Alex's romantic interests. We'll get back to you with their confirmed roles once they're revealed.
On April 10, more cast additions were announced. Actors José Zúñiga (Griselda), Jordi Mollà (Jack Ryan), Dario Ladani Sanchez (Dear Edward), Federico Rodriquez (American Rust, Past Lives), Marianne Rendon (Imposters), Michael Rowland (Animal Control), Chelsea Frei (The Cleaning Lady, Animal Control), Luca Padovan (You, The Boy and the Heron), Rachel Zeiger-Haag (Ramy, Monsterland), Maria Jung (Elsbeth, Paterno), and Donnetta Lavinia Grays (The Book of Henry, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) round out The Life List cast.
