Actor Joseph Quinn has been all over the news in the past few weeks with exciting casting announcements and promo for his upcoming horror movie A Quiet Place: Day One. What fans didn't expect whatsoever was to also see new rumors about the actor potentially returning to Stranger Things.

Of course, the 30-year-old actor rose to fame in the summer of 2022 with his role as Eddie Munson in the Netflix phenomenon, but most had pretty much given up on the possibility of him reprising the role in the fifth and final season.

Alleged potential typo has Stranger Things fans alarmed

Well, Stranger Things fans are raising their eyebrows after noticing an interesting comment in a recent report. When TV Line reported this week's Fantastic Four movie casting news — which will see Pedro Pascal play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Quinn as Johnny Storm — the article allegedly mentioned Quinn was shooting the final season of Stranger Things.

"Newly-minted Emmy winner Moss-Bachrach, meanwhile, will soon begin shooting Season 3 of The Bear, while Quinn is currently in production on the final season of Stranger Things."
Alleged since-deleted TV Line comment

This alleged sentence has since been deleted from the article, but eagle-eyed fans seem to have screenshotted it before it was gone. You can take a look at the alleged original article in the screenshot on Tumblr here. We keep saying "alleged" because it's always possible that a fan edited an image to make it look like the TV Line reporter said this about Quinn. We don't have confirmation from TV Line that the comment was included, nor does the article add a line of transparency in their update.

Is Joseph Quinn coming back for Stranger Things season 5? Probably not

Now, assuming the sentence was included and then removed, what does that even mean? Is Joseph Quinn actually reprising his role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things? Well, we hate to be the bearer of bad news, but we still highly doubt it. The misreporting in the TV Line article is a little strange, but Quinn just has so much going on! He's likely too booked and busy to be shooting Stranger Things, unless it's for a very minor part. Not only will he play the Human Forch in Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four, but he was also just cast in American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis' directorial debut Relapse. Before this, Quinn was shooting for Gladiator 2, which comes out in November of this year.

Additionally, let us just remind everyone that Eddie Munson dies in Stranger Things season 4. It's a heartbreaking moment when Quinn's character sacrifices himself to save the others, and as much as I'd love to see Quinn back on my screen, I don't think the show should reverse his death. It's such a powerful and impactful moment, and bringing him back would simply be fan service. It's the final season; I'm certain there are so many other storylines to explore and wrap up.

As you can tell, I'm in the camp of Stranger Things fans who think bringing back Eddie would be a major mistake, so I'm hoping this TV Line report was simply an error. As always, we'll keep an eye out to see if anything else might come out about the possibility of Quinn's return to the character — including all the rumors.

Stranger Things season 5 is expected to release in 2025, so until then be sure to rewatch all four seasons right now on Netflix.
