Outer Banks season 4 and 8 more Netflix teen shows confirmed to be coming in 2024
We're already three months into the new year, and we've seen tons of new and returning shows landing on Netflix. However, we haven’t seen the release of many teen shows. What's up with that? Well, it looks like Netflix is holding off on releasing them for multiple reasons. For example, many of the teen shows haven't finished the filmmaking process yet. Yes, we're talking about you, Outer Banks. And with others, it looks like Netflix has a strategic plan of spreading them out. It's probably best to do this way anyway.
So far this year, we've seen the release of the Netflix teen shows Avatar: The Last Airbender, AlRawabi School for Girls season 2, Young Royals season 3 and Blood & Water season 4. Fortunately, this isn't all. There's a pretty good list of many other Netflix teen shows confirmed to be released in 2024, and of course, we shared the names of those shows below.
Since we're big fans of OBX here at Netflix Life, it would only make sense for us to start with this popular teen show.
Outer Banks season 4
OBX fans, we're happy to announce that Outer Banks season 4 will be released in 2024. Netflix confirmed this news back in early February during its Next on Netflix event. But unfortunately, an exact release date hasn't been revealed yet. This isn't surprising since the show hasn't finished filming. The cameras are rumored to stop rolling on the new season on May 20, 2024. With this rumored production wrap date, we're most likely looking at a fall 2024 release. Of course, the new episodes will have to spend a good amount of time in post-production before making their way to Netflix. That's why we're expecting a fall release.
Plot details about the fourth season are being kept under wraps, but based on how the third season ended, we'll likely see the Pogues go on yet another treasure hunt. We'll likely see John B, Sarah, and the rest of the Pogues set out on a quest to find the English Pirate Blackbeard's treasure.
Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Rudy Pankow, Carlacia Grant, Drew Starkey, and Austin North are all confirmed to return. There will also be new cast additions such as Brianna Brown, J. Anthony Crane, Mia Challis, Pollyanna McIntosh, and Rigo Sanchez. Stay tuned to Netflix Life because we'll be sharing the official release date once it's announced.
I Woke Up A Vampire season 2
Although never officially renewed for a second season, I Woke Up A Vampire season 2 is happening. It's set to be released on Netflix on Thursday, April 4, 2024, and will consist of eight episodes. In season 2, Carmie is now in high school, and she hopes to leave all of what happened last year behind her. But she'll soon realize that she can't escape her destiny. Young actress Kaileen Angelic Chang returns as Carmie. Niko Ceci, Zebastin Borjeau, Ana Araujo, and Aaliyah Cinello also return.
Heartbreak High season 2
School's back in session at Hartley High! On April 11, 2024, fans we'll get to see the return of all their favorite characters in Heartbreak High season 2. It's a new term and with it comes new problems for the students of Hartley High, especially for our protagonist, Amerie. In the second season, Amerie finds herself at the center of drama once again, and her life disrupted by a strange stalker. Based on plot details, we can already tell that season 2 will be another entertaining season to watch.
Australian actress Ayesha Madon reprises her role as Amerie in the second season. Joining her in the season 2 cast are fellow Australian actors such as James Majoos, Chloe Hayden, Gemma Chua-Tran, Asher Yasbincek, Thomas Weatherall, Will McDonald, and others.
Dead Boy Detectives
After the epic fail of Netflix's British supernatural detective series Lockwood & Co., let's hope Dead Boy Detectives fares better when it premieres on Netflix on Thursday, April 25, 2024. Like Lockwood & Co., it's a supernatural detective series. It's based on the beloved comic series by Neil Gaiman and follows two teen ghosts as they work alongside a clairvoyant to solve mysteries that involve the supernatural.
George Rexstrew plays the role of teen ghost detective, Edwin Payne, while Jayden Revri plays the other teen ghost detective, Charles Rowland. The rest of the cast includes Kassius Nelson, Briana Cuoco, Ruth Connell, Yuyu Kitamura, Jenn Lyon, and many others.
Heartstopper season 3
One of the most heartfelt Netflix teen shows is set to return this year with a new season, and of course, we're talking about Heartstopper. Heartstopper season 3 will be coming to Netflix in October 2024. Sadly, the streamer hasn't announced the official release date just yet, but we're hoping for an early October release. The sooner the better, right?
Joe Locke, Kit Connor, William Gao, Yasmin Finney, Corinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, Tobie Donovan, Jenny Walser, and others are confirmed to return in their respective roles.
Here's what the highly anticipated third season will be about via Netflix:
"This season, Charlie would like to tell Nick that he loves him. Nick also has something important to say to Charlie. As the summer holiday ends and the months race on, the friends begin to realize that the school year will come with both its joys and its challenges.
As they learn more about each other and their relationships, plan social events and parties and start thinking about university choices, everyone must learn to lean on those they love when life doesn't go to plan."
That '90s Show season 2
There isn't an official release date for That '90s Show season 2, but Netflix has already confirmed that it will stream sometime in the summer of 2024. Fingers crossed, the second season is given a June release! Unlike season 1, which only had 10 episodes, the upcoming second season was given an expanded episode order of 16 episodes. Our guess is that Netflix will probably release the second season in two batches. Maybe two batches of eight episodes each. We'll let you know how the streamer decides to release the new season once we find out.
Plot details about That '90s Show season 2 are unknown at the moment, but based on how the first season ended, we have an idea of how the story might pick up in season 2. What we do know is that the second season will take place one year after the first season, so 1996.
We'll see Leia Forman return to Point Place in the summer of 1996, and drama will likely ensue because of a secret that she and Nate are keeping hidden. If you recall from the season 1 finale, Leia and Nate share a kiss. That's a big no-no because Nate is currently dating their other friend, Nikki. And we can't forget that Leia also has something going on with Jay Kelso. We can't wait to see this complicated love triangle explored in That '90s Show season 2.
Cobra Kai season 6
Cobra Kai is set to return with its sixth and final season this year, and we have mixed emotions about this. We've spent so much time getting to know the characters, and we're not quite ready to say goodbye just yet. But unfortunately, we don't have a choice. An official release date hasn't been set yet, but the sixth season has been confirmed to be released on Netflix in 2024.
After an explosive fifth season, there are so many ways Cobra Kai season 6 can go. Sadly, there aren't any plot details yet, but Netflix promises viewers that the sixth season will be "the epic conclusion to the decades-long karate saga." The sixth season is expected to explore plotlines from the fifth season and wrap up story arcs. We can't wait to watch every last second!
Hierarchy
A new Korean drama to be on the lookout for this year is the upcoming Netflix teen show Hierarchy. It doesn't have a release date yet, but it has been confirmed for a Q2 2024 release. That means we could see this show sometime in April, May, or June. We'll definitely come back and share the official release date once it's announced.
Here's what the show will be about via Netflix:
"The top 0.01% of students control law and order at Jooshin High School, but a secretive transfer student chips a crack in their indomitable world. "
Our Beloved Summer actress Roh Jeong-eui stars in one of the leading roles as Jung Jae-i, the firstborn heiress of Jaeyul Group and a popular student at Jooshin High School. Lee Chae-min, who is known for starring in See You in My 19th Life, plays the role of Kang Ha, a transfer student to Jooshin High School who comes and shakes up the school's hierarchy system. Other South Korean actors such as Kim Jae-won, Chi Hae-won, and Lee Won-jeong join them in the cast.
Elite season 8
Another Netflix teen show that will be ending this year is the popular Spanish series Elite. Netflix confirmed this news at its Next on Netflix event back in February 2024. There isn't a release date yet, but we're probably looking at a summer release. The season 7 finale ended on a shocking cliffhanger with a character's death, so Elite season 8 will likely see Las Encinas students dealing with this tragic situation among other things.
Many of our favorite characters will return in the eighth and final season. There are also two new cast additions like Ane Rot (Killer Book Club) and Nuno Gallego (UPA Next). Spanish actress Mina el Hammani, who played the role of Nadia in the first four seasons of Elite, will be returning for the final season as well. Don't worry! We'll get back to you with the official release date for Elite season 8 once Netflix announces it.
