A new treasure hunt awaits! Outer Banks season 4 will arrive on Netflix in 2024

Buckle your seat belts and get ready for a whole new ride my fellow Pogues! It's official. Outer Banks season 4 is coming to Netflix in 2024! We were hoping the next installment of our favorite show would premiere this year, but we weren't sure until now. Are you ready!?

Netflix made a big announcement today, Feb. 1, sharing the content it has coming this year. There are so many highly-anticipated movies, as well as returning shows that we've missed all these months. There are ones we're super excited for like Bridgerton season 3, The Night Agent season 2, and Squid Game season 2. But I don't think there's anything quite like the anticipation we all have for Outer Banks season 4!

Netflix has not shared an official release date just yet, just confirming that the next chapter in the story will indeed be coming in 2024. And honestly with the lack of updates lately, that's enough to hold me over for now. Based on filming schedules from seasons 2 and 3, it takes around eight months to film each season, and then Netflix releases the new installment about three or four months afterward.

Production on season 4 began back in June 2023, but was then put on pause during the writers' and actors' strikes. Filming began once again in November 2023. It's not clear how far along they'd gotten, but probably not much since the actors' strike started on July 14. Assuming production on season 4 continues until July 2024, that means we might get the fourth season in October or November this year. Fingers crossed!

Outer Banks season 4 will see the return of the wonderfully resourceful Pogues: Chase Stokes as John B; Madelyn Cline as Sarah; Madison Bailey as Kiara; Rudy Pankow as JJ; Jonathan Daviss as Pope; and Carlacia Grant as Cleo. The troublesome Austin North as Topper and Drew Starkey as Rafe will also reprise their roles. P4L took on a whole new meaning in Outer Banks season 3 with the high stakes the group had to face. And while John B and Sarah both lost their fathers, the Pogues did get a win after all the hardships they'd gone through. They finally found the gold in El Dorado. But now as Netflix's TUDUM teases, "the treasure hunt is far from over!"

By the end of the third season, 18 months had passed since the Pogues found the gold and faced the death of Ward and Big John. But now, they have another adventure to look forward to and a new treasure to seek. "The hunt for Blackbeard's gold is on the horizon," teases Netflix. And we absolutely can't wait to see what's in store!
