There are a bunch of new Netflix shows coming in May 2024. It might not be quite as deep of a lineup as we've come to expect from the streamer, but the streamer is still dealing with the production pipeline issues and delays after Netflix and the other studios failed to make a deal with the writers' and actors' unions for several months in 2023.

The good news is that we're starting to see some fan-favorite shows returning to Netflix with new seasons. It should be no surprise that everyone wants to watch Bridgerton season 3, which arrives this month on Netflix. We have more on that shortly, along with four other new Netflix shows subscribers should be watching in May.

Let's get the list started with Man in Full, one of the top shows on Netflix in early May.

Man in Full

  • Release date: May 2
  • Created by David E. Kelley
  • Cast: Jeff Daniels, Diane Lane, Tom Pelphrey, Aml Ameen, Chanté Adams, Jon Michael Hill, Sarah Jones, William Jackson Harper, and Lucy Liu

Man in Full is already available to stream on Netflix! The new Netflix original series from David E. Kelley premiered on May 2, and it's on its way to becoming one of the top Netflix shows of the year so far. Will it crack the 2024 Top 10? We'll just have to wait and see, but it's off to a strong start, trailing only Baby Reindeer over its opening weekend on Netflix.

The series is based on the novel of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Man in Full tells the story of Charlie Croker, played by Jeff Daniels. Once a prominent name in real estate, Croker watches as his empire and life collapses around him, but he's not going out without a fight.

Man in Full has an incredible cast! That's definitely the high point of this series.

Bodkin

  • Cast: Will Forte, Siobhán Cullen, Robyn Cara, Chris Walley, David Wilmot, and more

If there's one new Netflix show that could give Bridgerton season 3 a run for its money in May, it's going to be Bodkin. The series premieres on Thursday, May 9, one week before Bridgerton season 3 part 1.

The series feels like a real true crime story, but it's entirely fake. It tells the story of a team of true crime podcasters and an investigative journalist who journey to a small Irish village to investigate the disappearance of three people during the Samhain festival years ago. They find many secrets would rather stay that way in Bodkin.

I love the feel and tone of this series. If you like dark comedies with a bit of ridiculous flair, Bodkin is the show for you in May.

Blood of Zeus season 2

  • Release date: May 10
  • Created by Charley Parlapanides and Vlas Parlapanides

Blood of Zeus is finally back with new episodes on Netflix on May 10, one day after Bodkin premieres. The series was originally titled Gods & Heroes and premiered in October 2020. It's been a very long time since that first season, so we know fans will be very interested to tune in for season 2.

If you like anime, this is the show for you to watch on Netflix! I'm a big fan of Greek mythology and Percy Jackson is my guy, so I might have to give this one a watch while I wait for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2.

Bridgerton season 3 Part 1

  • Release date: May 16

  • Cast: Nicola Coughlan, Luke Newton, Claudia Jessie, Luke Thompson, Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, Ruth Gemmell, Lorraine Ashbourne, Hannah Dodd, Harriet Cains, Bessie Carter, Jessica Madsen, Florence Hunt, Martins Imhangbe, Will Tilston, Polly Walker, Julie Andrews, Hugh Sachs, Emma Naomi, Sam Phillips, and Kathryn Drysdale

Speaking of waiting a long time for the new season of a Netflix show, Bridgerton season 3 finally premieres on Netflix on Thursday, May 16. Fans have been waiting more than two years for this season.

This season will explore the highly anticipated relationship between Penelope Featherington, played by Nicola Coughlan, and Colin Bridgerton, played by Luke Newton. Everyone has been so thirsty to see these two, and now, that moment is finally here. Don't worry, though! There's bound to be lots of drama with Eloise, played by Claudia Jessie. Kate and Anthony Bridgerton, played by Simone Ashley and Jonathan Bailey, are also back for season 3.

The only bummers are there might be bees in season 3, which is always bad for the Bridgertons, and fans have to wait until June 13 to watch the second half of season 3. Part 1 consists of four episodes, and that's the same for part 2.

Eric

  • Release date: May 30
  • Created by Abi Morgan
  • Cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Gaby Hoffmann, McKinley Belcher III, Dan Fogler, and Clarke Peters

Eric is our last pick of the new Netflix shows you can't miss in May. The series tells the story of a couple who are searching for their missing son. It's set in the '80s, and it mainly focuses on Benedict Cumberbatch's character, Vincent, the creator of a children's show and the missing child's father, in his quest to find his son with the help of one of his puppets.

Look, it sounds wird, right? But, I highly encourage you to watch the trailer for the series. I think you'll be hooked, just like I am. I can't wait to check out Eric on Netflix.

That's the list of the best new Netflix shows to watch in May! Stay tuned for more new shows and movies to watch on Netflix.
