Everything we know about Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver

Zack Snyder's epic space opera Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire premiered on Netflix to significant fanfare in December 2023. While critics weren't crazy about the science fiction film, Snyder's fans mostly seemed to enjoy it and the movie soared to the #1 spot on Netflix's Top 10 in countries across the globe.

In addition to the 2+ hour film, fans can also anticipate a more mature, R-rated cut of the movie at a future date. Netflix is also releasing the second part of the movie, Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver, this April. It seems likely that the first director's cut will be released before then and part two is also supposed to get a "Snyder Cut."

Keep in mind that this is not technically a sequel to the first film, but the second part, so the majority of cast members will stay the same and it's unlikely we'll see the addition of many new major characters until the actual official sequel (which is in development though not officially greenlit yet).

Perhaps the most notable difference is the absence of Charlie Hunnam's character, the mercenary Kai. After betraying Kora and the others in the first movie, Gunnar (Michiel Huisman) kills him and therefore it is unlikely that we'll see him return.

Atticus Noble, the film's primary antagonist, is "defeated" at the end, more or less, but his corpse is recovered and he's revived. When we last see him, the overall big bad Balisarius (Fra Free) is demanding he smash the insurgency and bring Kora to him alive so he can make an example of her.

What is Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver about?

The second half of the story will focus on the big battle between Kora and the insurgency and the tyrannical regime of Balisarius. If you watch the teaser above, you'll see the return of Atticus Noble and Kora getting everyone prepared for the incoming fight. It also looks like Kora and Gunnar will give into the sexual tension that's been brewing between them.

Since the first movie was really about Kora going around and recruiting everyone, the second half will hone in on the actual fight, including the lead-up to it, and presumably, the aftermath. It'll also be interesting to see how Kora's companions react when they, likely, find out she is Balisarius' adopted daughter.

Here is the official synopsis for the sequel released by Netflix:

"REBEL MOON - PART TWO: THE SCARGIVER continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld. On the eve of their battle the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made."

According to actor Ed Skrein, Snyder turned to acclaimed director Christopher Nolan for inspiration in creating the second part. Skrein told Gamesradar+ that the filmmaker looked to Dunkirk and wanted Part Two to be very epic.
