The fall television season is officially in full swing, which means there's no more need to complain that there's "nothing good to watch." Beyond Netflix, there are so many new shows hitting the small screen, with the broadcast networks debuting their fall slates, and other streamers getting in on the fun with shows like Agatha All Along, The Penguin, and Frasier.

When it comes to Netflix, this weekend brings a trio of hot new releases that will be reaching the top 10 most popular rankings. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story arrived on Sept. 19 and retells the captivating story of the Menendez brothers' murders of their parents. Netflix also debuted Zack Snyder's animated series Twilight of the Gods and the tear-jerker movie His Three Daughters.

Are you overwhelmed by all the new shows released the past week and can't decide what to watch this weekend? Let us help you out and sort through three of the biggest Netflix new releases of the week and recommend which to watch and which one to skip!

Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story

Watch! While everyone likely won't enjoy Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, I personally would recommend the series to viewers who like crime thrillers. The series felt a little more in line with Ryan Murphy's other anthology series American Crime Story than with Monsters, as a majority of the series centers on the Menendez brothers' trial.

But nevertheless, it's another riveting collection of television from the prolific producer. The acting from series leads Nicholas Chavez and Cooper Koch is nothing short of superb and Emmy-worthy. They, along with Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson, will have you feeling and hanging on every word. Skip if true crime isn't your thing, but otherwise, this one's a must-watch!

Twilight of the Gods
Zack Snyder presents TWILIGHT OF THE GODS, an all-new daring and spectacular animated vision of Norse mythology. This heroic story of love, loss and revenge, is a journey to Hell and beyond… across fantastical lands, battlefields fierce and bloody, and wars waged against Gods and demons. Twilight of the Gods. Twilight of the Gods

Skip! Now, I'm not suggesting to skip Zack Snyder's Twilight of the Gods based on its quality. It's a great new animated series! But it's for more of a niche audience. Obviously, if you're part of that niche audience that has been waiting for this series based on Norse mythology, by all means, fire up all eight episodes this weekend.

Keep in mind, Twilight of the Gods isn't an animated series for children. The series is rated TV-MA for gore, language, nudity, sex, smoking, and violence, according the show's official page on Netflix. If that doesn't sound like the kind of situation you're looking for in an animated series, then feel free to skip this one and check out some of Netflix's other animated options.

His Three Daughters

Watch! It's not every day that you can watch three of Hollywood's best actresses star together in the same movie, but that's exactly what Netflix is giving us with His Three Daughters on Sept. 20. Carrie Coon, Elizabeth Olsen, and Natasha Lyonne star in the film as estranged daughters coming together to care for their sick father. Along the way, they address their own issues.

His Three Daughters honestly sounds like a punch to the gut and a movie that will make you cry. Some viewers love sad movies and some don't, so proceed accordingly. I'm in the camp of not loving sad movies, but my affinity for talented actresses acting well overrides any disinterest in tears over laughter. For a good, cathartic journey, join me in watching the new movie this weekend!
