Not to stress you out or anything, but your Netflix watch list for August 2024 continues to get bigger and bigger. The month not only ushers in the first part of Emily in Paris season 4 and celebrates the series finale of The Umbrella Academy, but August brings over a dozen AMC shows to the fold. As if that wasn't enough, Netflix just added another fan-favorite show to the roster.

According to a report from What's on Netflix, the fan-favorite drama series UnREAL will be making its way to Netflix for streaming in August 2024. The outlet reveals all four seasons of the addictive show will land on Netflix in the United States on Monday, Aug. 19, the same day that a baker's dozen of shows hailing from AMC will also drop on Netflix. That's going to be a busy day for binge-watchers!

UnREAL comes from co-creators Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro and centers itself in the world of reality television, specifically a dating series called Everlasting that's a thinly veiled satire of ABC's The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Shiri Appleby stars as producer Rachel Goldberg, who's at the will of her ambitious and demanding boss, executive producer Quinn King (Constance Zimmer).

UnREAL joins growing list of new content on Netflix

The series first premiered on Lifetime back in June 2015 and became a huge critically acclaimed hit for the cable network. Viewers loved to see the fictionalized behind-the-scenes world of reality television, though some surmised that the high drama atmosphere of Everlasting and Quinn's desire to fabricate situations for ratings weren't too far off from the truth of what happens on these sets.

In 2016, UnREAL won a Peabody Award and landed two Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for Constance Zimmer's performance and for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series shared by Noxon and Shapiro. Unfortunately, the series seemed to have fallen off in popularity after the show took over a year off between seasons 2 and 3.

With its fourth and final season, which only contained eight episodes compared to the first three seasons 10-episode orders, UnREAL moved to Hulu as an original series for the streamer, though the episodes still later aired on Lifetime. In such a short amount of time, UnREAL had a sizable impact on pop culture, and it's awesome to see that it will be making a return to the conversation thanks to Netflix.

Over the past few years, especially this year, Netflix has been making a conscious move into acquiring more content from other studios. The streamer made a pact with Disney to share non-exclusive rights to a handful of its shows for a limited time and has continued to have a strong relationship with CBS studios, bringing in strong titles like Your Honor and Fire Country.
