KATSEYE: Get to know the official members of HYBE x Geffen Records global girl group

KATSEYE fans, the wait is finally over! Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE is now streaming on Netflix, and in this docuseries, we find out just how the six supremely talented young women came to make up the global girl group. It wasn't an easy process, but these young women worked hard and proved themselves to be ready for stardom.

The years-long process started with auditions being held. After looking all over the world and over 120,000 applicants, HYBE and Geffen Records were able to narrow down their contestants list to just 20 young women. These women trained rigorously for the chance to secure a spot in HYBE and Geffen Records' first-ever global girl group. But with there only being six spots, HYBE and Geffen had to find a way to narrow the list down even more.

They did so by introducing a survival show called The Debut: Dream Academy, where all 20 contestants had to participate in various missions where they would be judged by not only the higher-ups at HYBE and Geffen Records but also by the fans. Through this world-class audition program, 10 contestants were cut, leaving only 10 left. Then, the remaining 10 contestants performed in a live finale event in Los Angeles before the final six members who make up the group were announced.

Sophia Laforteza age

Sophia was 20 years old when filming Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE. She was born on Dec. 31, 2002, making her 21 years old and her zodiac sign Capricorn. She's also from the Philippines.

• Daniela had no interest in K-POP when entering the competition, but that later changed.
