Adam Sandler's Happy Gilmore sequel at Netflix is really coming together quickly! After getting the official green light from the streamer earlier this year, Happy Gilmore 2 continues to generate more and more headlines about casting as production gets underway. Along with Sandler back as the titular character, the movie just nabbed three exciting new cast members!

On Sept. 9, Netflix announced that Happy Gilmore 2 began production with a post including a photo featuring Happy's iconic Boston Bruins jersey. Sandler recently told Jimmy Fallon that the sequel would be filming in New Jersey, and while we haven't seen a photo yet of Sandler back in character in his one of his most famous roles ever, it's likely coming very, very soon.

Prior to the announcement that production had begun, Sandler revealed that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce will be making a cameo appearance in Happy Gilmore 2. The three-time Super Bowl champion and budding actor will be sharing the screen with Sandler, one of the most popular musicians of the moment (not his girlfriend), and two more stars of the original movie.

Bad Bunny and two fan-favorites join Happy Gilmore 2

On Sept. 10, Netflix revealed that Bad Bunny, known in his acting career as Benito MartĂnez Ocasio, joined the cast of Happy Gilmore 2. While that's exciting news for Bad Bunny fans, Deadline notes that the music star's role is currently being kept "under wraps."

Along with his successful music career that continues to flourish, Bad Bunny has appeared in such movies as F9, Bullet Train, and Cassandro, with a role in the upcoming movie Caught Stealing in the works. He also appeared in a recurring role in Netflix's Narcos: Mexico.

Perhaps even more exciting for Happy Gilmore fans, Netflix also confirmed the returns of two stars from the original 1996 movie. Julie Bowen, who played Happy's girlfriend Virginia Venit, will be back for the new sequel, as will Christopher McDonald as Happy's enemy Shooter McGavin.

Currently, there aren't any concrete plot details, which means there isn't additional information on the extent of Virginia and Shooter's roles in the sequel, though one can hope that they will be prominently featured. Sandler did joke that he'd originally considered Kelce to play his son, so maybe he and Virginia are married with kids!

For many Happy Gilmore fans, there wouldn't be a sequel without Bowen and McDonald returning to join the fun with Sandler. We're no doubt in for a number of new characters entering Happy's world, including cameos from some of the top talents in the sport of golf today, but it's necessary to have two of the most important familiar faces on board.
