Who doesn't love a little drama in their life? Well, maybe not in your life, but in the shows you watch on Netflix. Thankfully, there's no shortage of great shows to escape into on each platform, but Netflix might boast some of the best and continues to add the best, too.

While serial dramas and quick-binge limited series are what everyone wants these days, you just can't beat a procedural. The case-of-the-week format still holds on strong on broadcast television, and some streamers are even starting to adopt the time-tested format.

Over the years, Netflix has housed some of the biggest titans of the procedural drama genre and maintained their popularity on streaming. Grey's Anatomy, NCIS, S.W.A.T., and more small-screen shows have enjoyed additional viewership success thanks to the streaming service.

Are you looking for more procedural dramas with multiple seasons and up to hundreds of episodes to watch? We have compiled five of the best procedural dramas with a bit of soap them that you should watch on Netflix as of August 2024, beginning below with Fire Country.

Fire Country

On Aug. 1, Netflix added the 22-episode first season of the hit CBS firefighter procedural Fire Country. In the series, a convict joins the Cal Fire team to decrease his jail sentence, but when he's stationed in his hometown, a whole host of mess and secrets from his past begins to heat up more than the fires he's tasked with fighting. The show is equal parts thrilling procedural drama as the team works together on keeping Northern California and soapy drama as the team's interpersonal entanglements make matters all the more complicated.

Suits

Who hasn't watched Suits on Netflix at this point? Well, if you're one of the last remaining holdouts, perhaps now's the time you will finally be swayed to give the legal drama a shot. The USA Network staple reveled in a renaissance that truly hasn't been seen before when the first eight seasons dropped on Netflix last summer. Billions of streaming hours and an upcoming spinoff series set to air on NBC later, all nine seasons of Suits are now available to watch on Netflix. Get all the drama you crave from your TV shows in an exquisite 134-episode package!

Royal Pains

Like its fellow USA Network series, Royal Pains arrived on Netflix in the aftermath of the Suits surge, and while the medical dramedy didn't have quite the same impact, viewers still flocked to the underrated darling. In the series, a trouble doctor loses his job and seeks a fresh start as a concierge doctor to the wealthy elite in the Hamptons. It's essential feel-good summertime viewing, while still providing the perfect amount of soap. Royal Pains might be a personal fave, but it still deserves more love. Check out all eight seasons while they're available on Netflix.

The Resident

Earlier this year, Fox's gone but not forgotten medical drama The Resident dropped on Netflix and caught a second wind, hitting the top 10 upon its arrival. The series takes place in an Atlanta hospital as the team works to help their patients amid concerns with the healthcare system. While a fan-favorite, The Resident was ultimately canceled after its sixth season, having aired over 100 episodes and experienced a revolving door of cast changes. If you're a fan of medical dramas like Grey's Anatomy and New Amsterdam, you'll love the soapy twist of this pick, too.

Lucifer

Of course, who could forget one of the most underrated procedurals of the last few years? The supernatural drama series Lucifer had a police procedural twist that made the concept a bit more fresh and appealing to other viewers. The Devil lands in Los Angeles and helps the police solve crimes, but it's also a bit more complicated and thrilling than any description could do it justice. In spite of a rocky initial run that included being canceled by Fox and saved by Netflix, the series wound up producing six seasons and almost 100 episodes. It's still beloved to this day, so give it a watch or a rewatch!
