Emily can't make up her mind in the Emily in Paris season 4 trailer

If there's one thing we can always count on our girl Emily Cooper to do, it's to make a complete and utter mess of her love life... and her professional life rarely makes it out unscathed. After the dramatic events of the season 3 finale, Emily in Paris season 4 picks up with Emily still unable to make a decision between Gabriel and Alfie but seemingly choosing to be single for a while.

On July 22, Netflix released the official trailer for Emily in Paris season 4 part 1, which releases on the streamer on Thursday, Aug. 15. While we didn't yet catch a glimpse of Emily's forthcoming adventures in Rome (maybe we'll see those in the trailer for part 2!), we did catch a preview of the drama coming in the first part of season 4. Naturally, that involves Emily being confused in love.

As she recaps to Mindy, "The man that is still having a baby with a woman who's in love with another woman and I'm the only one that knows about it?" She's stressing! Like any best friend, Mindy looks on the bright side and tells Emily, "Well, no relationship is perfect." Emily should be used to complicated by now, but she's not ready to settle for anything less than she deserves.

Emily's still stuck on Gabriel and Alfie in season 4

As the trailer previews, Emily hasn't been able to let go of her feelings for either Gabriel or Alfie, even after Alfie broke up with her in the aftermath of Gabriel and Camille's disastrous wedding. She's single and ready to mingle — and check out guys during her morning runs — but her heart's still with Gabriel and Alfie for different reasons. If only we could glean from the trailer which man she's leaning toward...

Emily's breakup with Alfie seems to be a source of contention for Sylvie's business, as the couple was the face of a campaign, but with Emily's diaristic social media presence, the world knows that they have split. It wouldn't be a season of Emily in Paris without Emily making Sylvie angry! But she always finds a way to fix all of the problems she creates.

In one of the most interesting bits of the trailer, Gabriel overhears a phone call between Emily and Mindy while he's taking a shower. Emily appears to be surprised to see him taking a shower in her bathroom, and he appears to be surprised to learn she's not with Alfie. What's with this disconnect?! In spite of that, she and Gabriel still seem to be super close... but so do she and Alfie.

The end of the trailer teases a masquerade ball, and both Gabriel and Alfie are in attendance. Emily enters the ball in a very stunning black and white striped jumpsuit, and she scans the crowd for a certain someone. But who is she looking for? And what might she say to this person?! All of our questions will be answered in both parts of Emily in Paris season 4 on Aug.15 and Sept. 12.
