Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget
While not quite as good as the first film, Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget is still fun for the whole family and a welcome return from Aardman Animation. After escaping Melisha Tweedy's farm, Ginger (Thandiwe Newton), Rocky (Zachary Levi), and the rest of the gang are living out their days in harmony in a chicken sanctuary. Having settled down, Ginger and Rocky now have their own adventurous daughter, Molly (Bella Ramsey), who can't resist the allure of the mainland. When Molly gets into trouble, Ginger must get the group back together to save her from a dangerous new threat and an old foe.
Carol & The End of the World
When it's discovered that a mysterious planet is set for a collision course with Earth in a little over seven months, humanity embraces their every whim and desire to "carpe diem" and live it up knowing that the end is nigh. All except people like Carol Kohl (Martha Kelly), a middle-aged woman who has no desire to partake in hedonism. Instead, Carol finds "The Distraction," an empty office building where people like her can continue going to work every day to enjoy the comfort of routine. An adult existential comedy, Carol & The End of the World is a meditative miniseries with beautiful animation about finding the meaning of life.
The Crown season 6 part 2
If you've been watching The Crown for this long, you might as well see it through to the end. The final episodes of the series have finally been released on Netflix, bringing the pricey show chronicling the royal family to an end. Reviews for the final season of the period drama have been mixed to negative, with many critics feeling that the show's ending is quite anticlimactic. Still, over the years, The Crown has been an important part of the Netflix catalog, courting controversy and garnering countless accolades. It does feel like the end of an era.
Yu Yu Hakusho
Yu Yu Hakusho is Netflix's latest live-action adaptation of a popular manga series, this time the one from the early 1990s by Yoshihiro Togashi, which was also previously adapted into a long-running anime. The story centers on a teenager who perishes in a fatal car accident, but is later resurrected to investigate supernatural incidences. With only five episodes, Yu Yu Hakusho shouldn't take you long to watch and despite being tonally all over the place, reviews have been pretty positive for the show.
Gran Turismo
Based on the fascinating true story of video-game-enthusiast-turned-race-car-driver Jann Mardenborough, Gran Turismo is Netflix's latest Sony acquisition. Mardenborough, played by Archie Madekwe, is a skilled Gran Turismo player whose abilities propel him into a professional racing career. Orlando Bloom and David Harbour also star.
