Anyone But You is (almost) on Netflix! Here's what time you can start watching

The highly-anticipated streaming release of Sydney Sweeney's latest project, Anyone But You, is almost on Netflix! The movie came out in theaters in December 2023, and since then we've been waiting for it to become available online. So when you can you start tuning in?

Anyone But You begins streaming Tuesday, April 23, 2024 starting at 12 a.m. PT on Netflix. It's interesting the platform chose a Tuesday to release the film. Usually new releases are on Thursdays or Fridays closer to the weekend. Well, that's ok. I'll take it! I still haven't seen the rom-com, waiting for its streaming debut. So I'm very excited as I'm a fan of Sweeny's.

That is a late release time though, especially since it's a weekday. Those of you on the east coast, you can start watching at 3 a.m. ET, while the production will be released at 2 a.m. CT in the Midwest. To be honest, even though I'm impatiently waiting for it to become available, I probably won't watch the movie until later in the day. I'm definitely no night owl!

Expect "big romantic gestures" in the Sydney Sweeny film

On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an 87% Audience Score from people who've watched it on the big screen. Overall, viewers found it funny and a good rom-com story. Now let's be real. All us romantic comedy fans know that these stories can get very cheesy and unrealistic. But it's just part of the charm of these tales. It's what we love about them! So do go in expecting to see that.

Though this was a conscience decsion made by the creative team. Sweeny is only 26 years old, but is already becoming a powerhouse in the industry. The actress not only starred in Anyone But You, she also produced it as well. Per Deadline, the star wanted "to bring back those early 2000 romantic comedies" with the audience "left wanting to sing and dance in the rain, and have big romantic gestures."

So it's evident the talents behind-the-scenes were aware of this, and that's the idea they were going for. You can call it cheesy, but I don't care. These romantic comedies have always been, and will always be, like that to a certain extent. And I think you'd all agree that's what makes them great in our books! Give me all the big gestures and over the top romantic moments for me to swoon over.

In Anyone But You, Bea (Sweeny) and Ben (Glen Powell) have a great first date that ends up turning into a disaster, per the synopsis. The two decide not to see each other again and that works out until they find themselves heading to the same destination wedding in Australia. This results in the duo pretending to be a couple. What could go wrong - or right?
