During the holiday season, there's always some great Christmas-themed rom-coms that warm our hearts. And I love it! I've got a real soft spot for romantic comedies, especially during the colder months of the year. While the new Sydney Sweeney movie, Anyone But You, isn't holiday themed, it's a great romantic comedy film to add to your watch list if you're looking for a film in the genre!

The movie made its debut on Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, just a few days before Christmas! So is the rom-com available to watch online on our favorite streamer? Unfortunately, no. Anyone But You is not streaming on Netflix at this time. And that's because the Sony Pictures production is exclusively playing in theaters right now. But, don't be disappointed. We have some good news!

Thankfully, Netflix and Sony have a deal where the latter's projects stream on Netflix first after their run in theaters. After all, films have to go somewhere after being on the big screens! That means eventually, Anyone But You will stream on Netflix at a future date. So when is that going to be? We've got some predictions below!

Anyone But You is coming to Netflix in April

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that the film will begin streaming on April 23, 2024.

It's hard to say when exactly the rom-com is going to start streaming on Netflix. All we know for sure is that it will happen at some point. However since the two companies came to the licensing deal in 2021, Sony releases have been added to Netflix within six months of their debut in cinemas. Based on an educated and optimistic guess, I'd say we can potentially expect Anyone But You to start streaming on Netflix in Apr. 2024. And here's why.

Let's take a look at a couple of other Sony rom-coms that have come to Netflix recently. Love Again starring Outlander star Sam Heughan and Priyanka Chopra was released on May 5, 2023 in theaters. The film then started streaming on Netflix about four months later on Sept. 2.

Then, there was the highly-anticipated streaming release of No Hard Feelings starring Jennifer Lawrence! The movie came to theaters on Jun. 23, 2023. Then us Netflix viewers got the chance to enjoy it from the comfort of our home beginning Oct. 22, once again around four months after the film's debut in theaters.

It's so convenient that Sony and Netflix have this deal because we can know for sure where the majority of new films are going to go. It can be frustrating as a fan to be in the unknown, or wait too long for a streaming release date. But honestly, Netflix has been great about adding the new movies to its catalog within just a few months time of their release in theaters. So I have no doubt that we won't be waiting too long for Anyone But You! Check out the movie's synopsis below:

"In the edgy comedy Anyone But You, Bea and Ben look like the perfect couple, but after an amazing first date something happens that turns their fiery hot attraction ice cold - until they find themselves unexpectedly thrust together at a destination wedding in Australia. So they do what any two mature adults would do: pretend to be a couple."

Anything Sweeney is in, you can be sure I'll be watching. The actress is such a talent and shines in every role she takes on. From Euphoria, The White Lotus, and everything else, Sweeney captures your attention and showcases her abilities. I'm very excited to see her in the rom-com sphere as Bea opposite Glen Powell, who plays Ben! Just from the trailer, you can tell that these two have great onscreen chemistry. Will you be watching the movie when it makes it Netflix debut?
