Get excited! The first part of the sixth season of Cobra Kai is coming to Netflix on July 18. This will be the final season, so the premiere is bittersweet, but it will also be the biggest season, released in three five-episode parts. Things ended on a high note at the end of season 5, so get ready for some amazing action and drama in the upcoming season.
Cobra Kai is a series that serves as a sequel to The Karate Kid films created by Robert Mark Kamen. The first two seasons aired on YouTube Red, and once YouTube stopped producing the series, Netflix picked it up, beginning in season 3.
The series, created by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, begins 34 years after the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament. This story begins from Johnny's perspective, starting with the reopening of the Cobra Kai dojo, which reignites his old rivalry with Daniel. William Zabka and Ralph Macchio reprise their roles from the original films as Johnny Lawrence and Daniel LaRusso, respectively.

Kreese fakes his death and escapes from prison
In season 4, Kreese (Martin Kove) is framed by Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) for the assault on former Cobra Kai student Stingray, which leads to Kreese's imprisonment. At the end of season 5, Kreese fakes his death and escapes, an event that leads viewers to believe that Kreese will return as the villain in the final season, and the trailer appears to confirm this theory.
Daniel defeats Terry Silver
The fifth season featured many outstanding karate fights, but none was as satisfying as LaRusso vs. Silver. The grudge between the two dates back to The Karate Kid III from 1985 and was heightened when Silver beat and humiliated him early in the season. To add insult to injury, LaRusso defeated him using his own "Quick Silver" method and a final Crane Kick, a move LaRusso first used in 1984. This proved to the students of Cobra Kai that Miyago-Do is the superior dojo.
Terry Silver is arrested
Video footage of Silver confessing that he bribed the referee revealed the truth about the Cobra Kai sensi and saw the majority of Cobra Kai students quitting the dojo. This information also gave Stingray the courage to recant his testimony against Kreese, admitting it was Silver who assaulted him. Silver's criminal acts come to light, leading to his arrest.
Many rivalries were settled
The end of the season featured a calm, perhaps before a storm to come in season 6. The rivalries between many of the main characters saw resolutions. Robby (Tanner Buchanan) and Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) settled things earlier in the season. Samantha (Mary Mouser) and Tory (Peyton List) found a way to resolve their differences, allowing them to work together to aid the takedown of Silver. Eli (Jacob Bertrand) and Demetri (Gianni DeCenzo) faced their former bully Kyler (Joe Seo), who tormented them since season 1. Overall, the students have begun a new phase as they are no longer members of rival dojos, for now.
Sekai Taikai tournament
Despite everything that occurred in season 5, Miyagi-Do, Eagle Fang, and Cobra Kai have all qualified for the prestigious international karate tournament Sekai Taikai. The trailer reveals that the students will participate in the event, opening their worlds to a new batch of competitors from around the globe. Taking things to an international level will challenge each participant to showcase their skills like never before.
