There have been eight Harlan Coben Netflix shows released so far, and we're looking forward to the upcoming Missing You television adaptation. It's currently in the works. Since the eight shows that have already been released were really good, we're expecting Missing You to be just as entertaining to watch.
Also, we can probably expect the new thriller series to be filled with many plot twists. However, we must be honest here. We've watched several of Coben's shows on Netflix, and while some of the plot twists in each show were unique, others were just plain comical. We're hoping this won't be the case for Missing You, but it's likely to happen.
If you're wondering which already-released Harlan Coben Netflix shows we're talking about, all you need to do is continue reading. We shared three of Coben's shows on Netflix that we believe have the most ridiculous plot twists below.
Spoilers ahead from Stay Close, Safe and The Innocent

1. Stay Close
Based on Harlan Coben's 2012 book of the same name, Stay Close centers around a suburban mom named Megan who is seemingly living the perfect life with her soon to be husband and three kids. She has successfully put her past as a stripper behind her and has completely turned her life around. But soon her dark past comes back to haunt her when she finds out from an old friend that a man she thought was dead is actually alive.
The cast includes Cush Jumbo, James Nesbitt, Richard Armitage, Sarah Parish, Jo Joyner, Daniel Francis, Youssef Kerkour, Bethany Antonia, Alibe Parsons, Poppy Gilbert, Hyoie O'Grady, Ross Boatman, Leon Annor, Eddie Izzard, and many others.
Ridiculous plot twists
- Lorraine being behind all of the killings that had been happening for many years at Vipers was the most ridiculous plot twist in Stay Close. She had been killing abusive men since the early 2000s, and it just didn't make sense how she never got caught. Also, how did none of her victims overpower her when she attacked them? Many of them were burly men. I get that they were probably drunk, but not one of them was able to fight back and survive? She would kill these men in the woods, but I would think someone nearby at Vipers would hear a man screaming for help. It's just not believable at all.
- Although Lorraine is revealed to be a serial killer, she didn't actually kill Carlton Flynn. After being trapped in the trunk of his own car by Kayleigh, Carlton ends up drowning when Dave pushes the car into a lake. There was so much build-up to finding out what happened to Carlton all season, only for it to be an accidental death. Boring!
- Police Detective Brian Goldberg is revealed to be working with the unhinged murder duo Barbie and Ken because of his financial troubles.

2. Safe
Safe is the only Harlan Coben show on Netflix that isn't based on any of his books. It's a British mystery thriller series following a paediatric surgeon and widowed father who finds his life turned upside down when his teenage daughter goes missing. As he frantically searches for her, he begins to uncover dark secrets of the people closest to him in his affluent neighborhood.
Dexter actor Michael C. Hall stars in the leading role of widowed surgeon, Tom Delaney. Joining him in the cast are Amanda Abbington, Amy James-Kelly, Marc Warren, Audrey Fleurot, Hannah Arterton, Nigel Lindsay, Laila Rouass, and others.
Ridiculous plot twists
1. Sophie being revealed as the person who killed Chris Chahal was just plain laughable. During the party, Chris confronts Sophie about her involvement in the school fire many years ago and gets her confession on tape. He tells her that he's going to take the recorded confession to the police, which scares Sophie. So, she wrestles him for the phone containing her confession, and they both fall into the pool. Sophie then immediately starts pushing his head underwater to drown him. It's just unbelievable that not one person saw this drowning happen at the party. I mean, people typically hang around the pool at high school parties. I wasn't amused by this plot twist one bit.
2. When it's revealed that Neil Chahal is the mysterious person blackmailing Zoe. I really didn't understand the point of this side storyline. It didn't move the plot forward, and once Neil was revealed to be the blackmailer, everyone just moved on like it was nothing.

3. The Innocent
The Innocent is a Spanish mystery thriller series based on Harlan Coben's 2005 novel of the same name. After getting into a nightclub bar fight that ends with the accidental death of a man, college student Mateo Vidal is sent to prison for the murder. Many years later, Mateo is released from prison and is ready for a fresh new start with his wife. But his past won't seem to go away. One day, he receives an alarming phone call from his wife's phone while she's away on business that instantly unsettles him. Now, he's determined to find out the truth, but he soon finds his innocence questioned again. This time by a police investigator who believes he's somehow linked to a suicide case of a mysterious nun.
The cast is made up of many well-known Spanish actors such as Mario Casas, Alexandra Jiménez, Aura Garrido, José Coronado, Martina Gusmán, Juana Acosta, Gonzalo de Castro, and others.
Ridiculous plot twists
- SCU Detective Teo being revealed as the abusive client that used to participate in Anibal's orgies with underage girls and killed one of Anibal's dancers, Lavanda.
- When Kimmy is revealed to be the person who set Olivia up. The reason that Kimmy pretended to have information on Olivia's daughter was because she wanted to lure Olivia to where she was and get revenge. Many years ago, Olivia, Emma, and Kimmy had planned to escape from Anibal's club, but things went terribly wrong, and Olivia and Emma were forced to leave Kimmy behind and fake Olivia's death. Kimmy blamed herself for many years for not being there for Olivia, but once she found out that Olivia was alive, she turned her sadness into anger. She was enraged that Olivia lied to her and never came back. That's why she came up with an elaborate plan to get revenge.
- When Jamie is revealed to be the person who framed Mateo for Gallardo and Saez's murders. For a good half of the season, we're trying to figure out who really killed Gallardo and Saez. We don't find out until the season finale that it was Jamie, the father of the college student that Mateo accidentally killed.
- Mateo is revealed to have actually killed the inmate who was after him in prison.
- When it was revealed that Emma wasn't killed by anyone. She jumped from her window to her death because she refused to expose where Olivia was currently living.
