Nobody Wants This season 2 gets exciting filming update fans will love
By Reed Gaudens
When Netflix released the romantic comedy series Nobody Wants This in September 2024, viewers quickly let the streamer know that, actually, everybody wants this. Two weeks after the show dropped, Netflix renewed the Kristen Bell-Adam Brody series for a second season, and to add to the show's victory, it remains in the top 10 over one month later.
Obviously, these days, no one wants to wait a long time in between seasons of streaming series after waits have climbed upwards of two, even three, years for new episodes. Well, the rom-com series is looking likely to avoid a lengthy wait for the next season as a new report suggests production will begin on the highly anticipated second season at the top of the new year.
According to series star Adam Brody at the show's FYC event, Nobody Wants This season 2 begins filming in February 2025 and could be released in September, about one year after season 1 originally dropped. That would be season 2 would beed to wrap by May. These filming dates mirror those of the first season, which means we won't be waiting more than a year for season 2.
Nobody Wants This season 2 charts early 2025 filming start
The first season filmed between February and May 2024, as listed on IMDb Pro, and the season was ultimately released on Sept. 26, 2024. Now that Nobody Wants This season 2 has a rumored production schedule that matches its previous run, fans should get excited at the prospect of getting 10 brand new episodes by sometime in fall 2025, perhaps even September again.
Erin Foster, series creator and writer, revealed that the writer's room had been hard at work crafting stories for season 2 "about three weeks" before the renewal announcement was made official. Netflix tends to open writer's rooms prior to making renewal announcements, which seems to give the creative team a jump on working on the next season before cameras start rolling.
If season 2 does start filming in February 2025, then all 10 episodes of the season should be finished writing well in advance, as they have been working since late September and will have the rest of 2024 to wrap up the writing phase. To add to the quick pacing, the second season landed two new co-showrunners in the form of comedy vets Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan.
We're keeping our fingers crossed that the February-May production timeline holds true and that all goes to plan. We need Joanne and Noah back for another hilarious and romantic season as soon as possible, and we don't want to wait past next fall. As soon as official word comes to light and cameras start rolling, we'll be sure to keep fans up to date with the latest developments.
