As much as we wish our favorite shows could last forever, or at least longer than just a few seasons, all good things must come to an end eventually. But inevitably, those good things end sooner than we'd like. This year, there are a number of Netflix original series bowing out with their final seasons, marking the end of an era for so many great shows fans have loved for years.
While 2026 began in mourning with the end of Stranger Things, the following months have also brought the final seasons of The Upshaws, Queer Eye, and Heartbreak High. There are plenty more final seasons to come before the end of the year, like Survival of the Thickest, Beauty in Black, The Witcher, and Outer Banks. Unfortunately, there are even more on the way in 2027.
Netflix renewed a lot of its most popular shows for new seasons throughout the first half of this year, but some of those renewals have come with the dreaded bittersweet caveat of these being final seasons. Already, we have three Netflix series finales on the docket for next year, though additional titles could be added to the list in the future. These are the ending to prepare for so far!

The Lincoln Lawyer
Mickey Haller only has one more trial left on his agenda. Following the release of The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 in February 2026, Netflix renewed the hit legal drama for a fifth season. Sadly, the streamer circled back on this news weeks later to confirm that season 5 will be the last season.
It's curious why Netflix would choose to end the series when there are more books to pull from in Michael Connelly's extensive series and The Lincoln Lawyer continues to be a fan-favorite performer. The show could have easily gone on for six seasons or even more.
But maybe it's better that the show gets to end on its own terms, and it sure has an epic final season lined up. Cobie Smulders joins the main cast as Mickey's half-sister after making a cameo appearance in the season 4 finale. The pair team up for a dangerous mystery that we now know ends the whole series. Filming has already started for a likely release on Netflix in early 2027.

Beauty in Black
Given Tyler Perry's track record for long-running shows, you would assume that his Netflix original drama series Beauty in Black would have had a much longer life than just three seasons (or five "parts," as it has been broken up for release). But that's not the case.
Before Beauty in Black season 2 part 2 premiered in March 2026, Netflix renewed the series for a third and final season, cutting the fan-favorite hit's run short. It's definitely a tough blow for fans of the show, but at least we know that Netflix didn't cancel the show on an unresolved cliffhanger.
Aside from Beauty in Black season 3 being the last batch of episodes, there's even more bittersweet news about the final season. Rather than being another 16-episode season that will be broken up into two eight-episode parts, the last hurrah has been reported to have only six episodes. While these episodes could drop before the end of 2026, let's expect to see how the story ends in 2027.

The Night Agent
Like Mickey Haller, The Night Agent's Peter Sutherland joins the list of Netflix heroes with just one more mission on his plate. Sure, the third season might have underwhelmed a bit when it came to both the storyline and its viewership performance, but a final season? Already?
When The Night Agent premiered back in 2023, it was the surprise, overnight success that took over the world. Its follow-up seasons were highly anticipated, and the series appeared to have a lot of life still left to live and missions to embark upon with Peter Sutherland. But there's only one more.
Netflix's announcement that The Night Agent season 4 would be the show's last was surprising, but creator Shawn Ryan seemed excited at the prospect of ending Peter's story on his own terms. The cast has grown with new characters, like Peter's ex-fiancée and new partner, and filming has started for the final season's release sometime next year. No, we're not ready to say goodbye.
