Netflix's Grown Ups 3 finally starts filming with the original cast returning

It seems the Netflix gods have answered my prayers because Grown Ups 3 is now in the works.

Netflix officially confirmed that Grown Ups 3 was indeed happening back in June 2026. A few months later on Aug. 6, the streamer announced the news that the movie is officially in production, featuring a picture of the reunited cast.

The main cast of the first two movies are returning, of course. Adam Sandler, David Spade, Rob Schneider, Chris Rock, Kevin James, and Salma Hayek will be back for Grown Ups 3.

Alongside the announcement from Netflix, Deadline reported a couple of new cast members joining the already confirmed cast. These include Bailee Madison and Deon Cole.

Kyle Newacheck, who previously worked on Happy Gilmore 2 with Sandler (and some other projects), is going to direct, while plot details for the third film have been kept under wraps. Even so, this is major news.

In the last few years, Sandler has had some great Netflix films that have done very well. Sure, there have been some misses, but most tend to be very entertaining, and plenty of fans love to watch them, such as Murder Mystery and Hustle. But one of his most famous ones is, obviously, Happy Gilmore 2, which broke records when it first released and brought Sandler back to one of his most famous roles.

The fact that Sandler is returning to the world of Grown Ups isn’t shocking, though. For some time, there was a slew of Sandler films that weren’t necessarily critically acclaimed or huge hits. Still, the first Grown Ups was a fun ensemble film, as was the second. While most critics didn’t really enjoy them as much, they made plenty of money and were beloved by fans.

You really can’t get better than watching Sandler mess around with his comedian friends, and that’s what these movies were — pure wackiness between adults who were friends as boys and some crazy slapstick comedy. But to me, as a girl who grew up watching these films, I enjoyed the heck out of them, and I’m curious to see where they are going to go with a third.

Lately, Sandler has gotten back to some old comedic roles that he's known for, but he has also flexed his dramatic skills too. Aside from Happy Gilmore 2, he’s starred in Uncut Gems and Jay Kelly, which were successful. He also got to star alongside his daughters in a film on Netflix, You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah. To see him come back to another big role is going to be so much fun.

We aren't entirely sure when this film will be released. But if it’s in production now, hopefully we’ll be seeing Grown Ups 3 sometime next year. While you wait, there are plenty of other great Sandler films to watch over at Netflix.
