When is the Frankenstein release date on Netflix?

When it comes to movies that Netflix thinks are going to be really big, the streamer sometimes takes a step beyond just releasing them on its platform. Some of these highly anticipated films get a limited theatrical release first, allowing audiences to experience the story on the big screen. Frankenstein is one of these films. It was initially released in limited theaters on Oct. 17, and is about to make its way to Netflix really soon.

Mark your calendars because the official Netflix release date for Frankenstein is Friday, Nov. 7, 2025. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the novel it's based on, a horror enthusiast, or just someone looking for a new movie to watch, this is one release you won’t want to miss!

What time will Frankenstein be released on Netflix?

Now that you know when Frankenstein will hit Netflix, you’re probably wondering what time you can start streaming the film. True to Netflix’s usual schedule, Frankenstein will be available at 12:00 a.m. PT/3:00 a.m. ET, so viewers on the West and East Coasts of the United States can dive into the suspense and horror as soon as the day begins.

If you’re in the Central time zone, the movie will be ready to watch at 2:00 a.m. CT, while those in the Mountain time zone can start streaming at 1:00 a.m. MT. No matter where you are, you won’t have to wait long to experience this thrilling modern take on a classic story!

Frankenstein is 2 hours and 29 minutes long, and it’s also rated R. That said, viewers should be prepared for a mature and intense cinematic experience. The reason the film has been given an R rating is because it contains bloody violence and grisly images. So, it’s definitely not a movie you want to have on while young kids are in the room.

Is there a Frankenstein trailer?

Yes! Guillermo del Toro wrote the script for Frankenstein as well as directed the film. It's based on Mary Shelley’s iconic 1818 gothic novel, Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus, and revolves around a gifted yet haunted scientist who dares to challenge the natural order by bringing the dead back to life.

However, his experiment quickly spirals out of control when the being he has created becomes self-aware, sparking a harrowing and deeply reflective conflict between maker and creation. Del Toro has mentioned in the past that making his own Frankenstein film was a "lifelong dream." So, it's great to finally see his vision come to life on screen.

We shared both of the official trailers below. Each offers a glimpse into the dark, gothic world of Frankenstein.

Frankenstein is scheduled to land on Netflix on Nov. 7. Don't forget to save the date!
