Netflix did it again! In June 2025, the streaming giant released a new original movie on its platform, and it didn't take long at all for it to rise up the charts, breaking streaming records and dominating conversations across social media. Now, it's even become the platform’s biggest movie ever. Talk about impressive!
I'm sure you've probably seen clips, heard the soundtrack, or at least noticed the buzz around this film everywhere online. Fans around the world couldn't stop talking about it when it was first released, and they still can't stop talking about it now. I personally saw the movie myself and was immediately struck by how unlike anything else on Netflix it felt.
The visuals are dazzling, bursting with color and movement in a way that seems almost alive, while the music pulses through every scene, perfectly mixing high-energy K-Pop with emotional ballads. Oh, did you catch the "K-Pop" part? That was a major hint to what movie I'm talking about.
KPop Demon Hunters is the most popular Netflix movie of all time

It's the truth, Netflix Lifers! Just check out Netflix's official website, and you'll see. Red Notice previously held the crown as the platform’s most-watched movie, but KPop Demon Hunters swooped in and quickly claimed the throne. As of Oct. 16, the film has accumulated a total of 325.1 million views, surpassing Red Notice's 230.9 million views. The action comedy starring Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds has been bumped down to the No. 2 spot, which isn't too bad.
If you're a diehard fan, you probably saw this coming. From the moment KPop Demon Hunters hit the platform, it was impossible to ignore the frenzy it created. The movie came out almost four months ago, and it hasn't dropped from Netflix's top 10 movie list once. Sure, it's moved around a bit on the list. But it has spent 17 consecutive weeks in the top 10, a feat rarely seen on the platform.
Given the trajectory, it’s clear that KPop Demon Hunters isn’t just a passing craze. It’s a full-blown phenomenon! Fans continue to stream it nonstop, and it has even achieved box office success. It's about to be re-released in theaters from Oct. 31 through Nov. 2, so it'll likely draw in massive crowds for its additional sing-along screenings. I might even make my way to my local theater to rewatch it. It's just that good!
Due to all its success, discussions are being had about a KPop Demon Hunters sequel. Don't worry, though. It won't be live-action. If there ends up being a second film, it will be animated just like the first movie. Co-director and co-writer Maggie Kang confirmed this in an interview with the BBC.
KPop Demon Hunters centers around Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, three K-pop superstars who lead secret double lives as demon hunters to protect their fans and the rest of the human world. While dazzling audiences on stage, they must also battle a dangerous rival boy band that’s actually a group of demons in disguise.
Arden Cho, Ahn Hyo-seop, May Hong, Ji-young Yoo, Yunjin Kim, Daniel Dae Kim, Ken Jeong, Lee Byung-hun, and many others make up the voice cast.
