Netflix's Crew Girl trailer previews the rowing drama's tense teen love triangle

It's a great time to be a fan of teen drama series, and not just when it comes to Netflix delivering new seasons of fan-favorites like XO, Kitty, A Good Girl's Guide to Murder, My Life with the Walter Boys, and Outer Banks this year. We have also gotten new instant-hits like Off Campus, Elle, and Sterling Point on Prime Video that have teen angst and love triangle yearning at an all-time high.

Netflix will keep the year of teen dramas rolling in September 2026 with the premiere of the new sports series Crew Girl. For a change, a sports series is heading off the ice and out onto the water as a teen's transfer to an elite prep school finds her joining the boys' crew team, the only girl on the team. She's a fish out of water in many ways, as the newly released trailer reveals.

Crew Girl premieres on Netflix in September 2026

On Aug. 12, Netflix offered a first look at Crew Girl ahead of its premiere on Thursday, Sept. 10 with the release of the official trailer and a number of images. Combined, both the photos and the trailer provide quite the preview of what to expected, and once again, audiences are sure to be completely enamored by the characters, screaming for the budding romances, and hooked on the drama.

Bet star Miku Martineau plays teenager Teagan Tao, a rising talent on her school's rowing team before a scandal involving her father sends her and her mother (Jessica Paré) relocating to a new home on the opposite coast. Teagan now attends Easton Prep, and although she's disappointed there's no girl's towing team, she's unafraid to compete with the boys in the elite school's varsity rowing team.

Teagan becomes the team's coxswain, which is a role she takes on in more ways than one. Easton's rowing team struggles to see eye-to-eye thanks to the tension between the squad's know-it-all captain Josh Regis (Samuel Braun) and the much more level-headed Cam Dillinger (Kyle Clark). Naturally, the dueling duo catch feelings for Teagan, as the trailer lays out.

In fact, Teagan's warned by her new friends to avoid Josh "at all costs," which is a warning that's easier said that done and one she doesn't listen to, probably because she quickly becomes the "Crew Girl." But as she rises into a leadership role on the team, Teagan's push and pull between Josh and Cam also grows, which could undoubtedly put the team's balance in peril.

Upon watching the trailer, fans of teen dramas will be immediately pulled in. If you love Netflix's My Life with the Walter Boys, another teen drama about a teenage girl relocating to a new home and winding up in a complicated love triangle, there's no doubt that Crew Girl should be at the top of your list of shows to binge-watch this fall.
