Let's assume you hate Valentine's Day. Whether you are in love or not, the "holiday" is made up and forces one to show even more appreciation to the person they are in a relationship with. It is a good way for businesses to sell chocolate and greeting cards. It is also a good night for restaurants.

No matter if you are happily in a relationship or not, there are reasons to dislike Valentine's Day. The four movies below will be somewhat cathartic for you, too. They will positively reinforce your feelings.

Of course, if you are in a relationship and your partner agrees with your view of February 14, you might have found the perfect mate. Give them a hug and tell them they are great. And then sit down together and binge-watch the following.

Four films to binge-watch if you hate Valentine's Day

Girlfriend's Day

A movie that stars Bob Odenkirk and Natasha Lyonne? Who cares what the plot consists of; the film would be a must-watch. This one is unique, though. Odenkirk plays a writer who used to be at the top of his game but has fallen so low that he ends up writing romance greeting cards. He finds himself involved in a murder scenario filled with lies as writers battle to create the best card for a made-up holiday" Girlfriend's Day. It is everything you hate about Valentine's Day.

She's Gotta Have It

The story involves a character who cannot decide what kind of man she wants to date and ends up dating three at once. That sounds like a lot of work. Too much work, some might say. The reason the movie stays afloat is that every character has their own nuances and Spike Lee directs. He is at the height of his early powers here, and that makes for some unforgettable scenes and dialogue. You'll laugh, you will be taken aback, and you'll be happy you watched.

Marriage Story

This one is, at times, brutal to watch. The lead actors, Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver, are certainly up to the task of making most of us feel as if we might never want to get married. (The title of the film is not altogether ironic, but it is close.) If you don't like confrontation, avoid this film about a stage director and his actress wife whose marriage falls apart, and then they go through a ridiculously bad divorce.

Do Revenge

Two teenage friends from opposite sides of teenage culture (one is popular and one is new to the school they both attend) join forces to destroy each other's bullies. This sounds cathartic, right? Plus, add in that Maya Hawke and Camila Mendes play the leads and you know you have a winner. There are old-school references everywhere and an appearance by Sarah Michelle Gellar.
