A new month for you means many new movies and series on Netflix. Your favorite streamer starts every month strong, and April is no different. There are older movies to see, new thrillers, and anything you might want to watch.

Heck, there are even the first Smokey and the Bandit films. Have they aged well? You will have to watch them for yourself and judge.

There are also several films that are just silly fun. That makes sense as the month starts with April Fools Day. If you can't watch something funny then, when can you?

Four movies that are new to Netflix in April you need to watch this week

Heat

This film seemed too contrived, at least as far as the cast was concerned. How could it not be a hit when viewers got to see Al Pacino and Robert De Niro together for the first time? They were both in The Godfather Part II, but they did not appear in any scenes together (it will make sense if you have seen the movie).

But the story was really good, too. De Niro plays the criminal, and Pacino plays the cop, and they rightfully build up mutual respect for one another. Who wins in the end? That is anyone's guess. Oh, and Natalie Portman and Val Kilmer are part of the cast.

Field of Dreams

If you grew up with a dad you used to play catch with, but then the relationship grew distant over several decades, just be warned. You will need several tissues ready for this flick. But not until the end. However, the film is entirely worth watching from minute one. Each character is drawn well and acted perfectly.

Sure, it helps to know a little baseball, but one does not have to. Baseball is not so much a sport in the film as a vehicle to help tell the story of learning how to adjust to what life throws you. It's a perfect Father's Day film, but it's also a great movie for any other day of the year.

Psycho

Completely changing tone, this is not the film you think it is. Instead of finding a skeleton of one's mom in the attic in the end (spoiler alert!), this movie is based on the premise of a blind man who must rescue the love of his life from a serial murderer. The twist is that we get to know the murderer's story, which is not what you think.

India has produced many great movies over the last couple of decades, and this one is not to be missed. It will keep you guessing and take unexpected turns.

Big Daddy

This premise is ridiculous. A guy (played by Adam Sandler) gets broken up with by a girl because she thinks he is too immature. He is. So what does he do? He adopts a five-year-old, of course. That might sound icky, but it makes sense.

The film is a goof, and never takes itself too seriously. If you are not a Sandler fan, this film will not change your mind. If you do like the Sandman and haven't seen this film, stop reading this article and do so.
