We’re officially one step closer to getting a new batch of Little House on the Prairie episodes! Production on the show’s second season has officially wrapped, which means that we’re now one step closer to Little House on the Prairie season 2 hitting Netflix, though we do likely still have a long wait ahead of us for the second season.

Now that filming has wrapped on season 2, the show will enter post-production as Netflix gets the show ready for its release. Little House on the Prairie shouldn’t have quite as long of a post-production window as other Netflix releases, which require more special effects added in after filming, but we anticipate the show will be in post-production for at least a few months to put the finishing touches on the season.

The good news is that season 2 is very much on pace for a 2027 release, which means fans won’t have to wait an extended period between seasons, which is always great.

When Little House on the Prairie season 2 does arrive, there will be a wave of new faces entering the picture, including a few from some beloved series!

Timed to the announcement that production has wrapped on Little House on the Prairie season 2, Netflix has announced the addition of several new recurring stars set to be introduced in the show’s second season—a season that will adapt the second book in the Little House on the Prairie series, On the Banks of Plum Creek. Among those joining the season 2 cast are When Calls the Heart star Paul Greene and Ginny & Georgia star Scott Porter as well as David Wronko, Erik Athavale, Elyse Levesque, Graham Harvey, Jacinta Forest Lewitski, Lyla Porter-Follows, Martin Roach, and Ryan Northcott.

When Calls the Heart fans are certainly in store to see a very different side of Greene as his Little House on the Prairie character sounds nothing like Dr. Carson Shepherd. Greene is set to play Luther Perry, Walnut Grove’s unpopular grain buyer and town banker who is not afraid to make enemies in his pursuit of profits even when they come at the expense of others.

As for Porter? Well, he’ll be playing a key member of the Ingalls family we haven’t yet met: Charles’ older brother, Peter. While Charles and Peter are both ruggedly handsome and charming, Peter is more of a realist than his brother, which likely comes from Peter being the responsible one who carries the weight of the world on his shoulders—something many older siblings can definitely sympathize with.

The pair certainly are going to be fun to watch in the new season, and the same goes for the rest of the newcomers entering the mix. So let’s get to know them a little bit more!

Levesque will be playing Emma Perry, the wife of Greene’s character, Luther. Emma is described as being refined yet charitable and secretly calling the shots for her husband’s business. The Perry family will play a big role in the season, with Wronko playing their eldest child, Thomas, who has aspirations of attending college in New York.

Athavale will play Walnut Grove’s resident minister Reverend Alden, who always sees the best in everyone; Harvey will play Johnny Johnson, the kindhearted son of Norwegian immigrants; Lewitski will take on the role of Hannah Walker, a farm manager and amateur pianist; Porter-Follows will play outspoken widow Mrs. Lena Nelson, who is working to run the farm her husband left behind; Roach will play veteran and widower Simon Hughes, a blacksmith who is described as a friend to all; and Northcott will play William Oleson, a loving husband and father who owns the nicest store in Walnut Grove.

Needless to say, there are going to be more than a few new faces for fans to meet when Little House on the Prairie season 2 arrives on Netflix in 2027, and we cannot wait to see what role they’ll play in the Ingalls’ next chapter!
