Rejoice, Little House on the Prairie fans. You might never think a reboot of the hit 1970s series starring Michael Landon would be worth watching, but Netflix will make a run at it.

The series was previously rumored to be heading toward pre-production, and this week, Netflix delivered the news about who will make up the main cast. Some of the faces are familiar, but not all—just the way Netflix planned.

There is little else known at this time about the number of episodes or the release date, but at least knowing the cast is a start. Here is what we know so far.

Netflix names leads for reboot of Little House on the Prairie

  • Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline Ingalls
  • Luke Bracey as Charles Ingalls
  • Skywalker Hughes as Mary Ingalls
  • Alice Halsey as Laura Ingalls

Crosby Fitzgerald (Caroline) might be a familiar face to you. Not only does she have a name like a 1920s movie star, but she has also been in some modern successes. She appeared in one episode of Abbott Elementary and five episodes of the excellent Apple TV show Palm Royale, where she plays Sylvia.

Luke Bracey (Charles), who sounds as if he might be someone who lived on a prairie once (and that is undoubtedly meant as no disrespect), is most certainly more familiar. He had a role in 2022's Elvis, played Utah in an updated Point Break, and was in a couple of episodes of Little Fires Everywhere.

Skywalker Hughes (Mary) might only be 13 years old, but she already has a number of titles to her name. This includes appearing in 20 episodes of Joe Pickett. She also voiced the Side Table Drawer on Blue's Clues & You.

You might already know Alice Halsey (Laura). She played the daughter of the character played by Brie Larson in Lessons in Chemistry. Halsey was fantastic in that, so she will probably make a perfect Laura. We might be just at the beginning of her excellent career.

Geoffrey Lewis will play Sam Galender. You have seen him in things before, and maybe many. He has over 200 credits to his name in both film and TV.

Filming for the series is expected to happen near Winnipeg, Canada, and now that the main cast of characters has been announced, it should begin soon. There is no firm release date for the reboot, but one might guess Netflix viewers can stream the series in 2026. Rebecca Sonnenshine will serve as executive producer and showrunner based on Laura Ingalls Wilder's best-selling books.
