One of Netflix’s strongest creative partnerships has been its collaboration with Harlan Coben. This successful relationship has consistently delivered gripping, twist-heavy thrillers that keep viewers glued to their screens.
However, sometimes these partnerships don’t always work. Creative collaborations can falter, audiences can be disappointed, and adaptations can miss the mark. But the Netflix-Coben union has proven to be an exception. We've seen 10 series adaptations of Coben's books released on Netflix so far, and there are many more to come under this ongoing partnership.
In fact, Run Away is slated to hit Netflix on Jan. 1, 2026. Another is I Will Find You, which doesn't have a release date yet but has been confirmed for a 2026 release. However, there's one particular adaptation that fans have been clamoring for. We're talking about one that has been teased, anticipated, and is long overdue.
Netflix needs to finally release the Myron Bolitar television series
Coben's Myron Bolitar book series is hands down one of his most beloved and enduring creations. You can pretty much ask any fan of his work, and they’ll tell you that a Myron Bolitar series adaptation has been at the top of their wishlist for years. I personally have been waiting just as eagerly.
The book series centers around Myron Bolitar, a former professional basketball player who becomes a sports agent and sometimes detective. He uses his intelligence, resourcefulness, and strong sense of right and wrong to solve tricky cases.
Back in October 2022, news broke that a Myron Bolitar series was in early development at Netflix, sparking excitement across the fanbase. What was also revealed at the time is that it would be an ongoing series set in America. This is much different than Coben's previous adaptations, which were limited series and set in international locations.
Then, in May 2025, we learned that David E. Kelley, the creative force behind Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer, had joined the project. Kelley is teaming up directly with Coben to adapt the Myron Bolitar novels into a full-fledged TV series. Not only will Kelley be writing the script, but he and Coben will also serve as executive producers.
But that's it. That's all that's been revealed about the Myron Bolitar series at Netflix. The only recent update we've had is when Coben appeared as a guest on the Dec. 17 episode of the Table Manners with Jessie and Lennie Ware podcast. While talking about his latest Netflix series, Run Away, he confirmed that he and his creative team are still working on the Myron Bolitar show.
While that's great news, it didn’t offer any new details about when fans can actually expect to see the series, who might be cast in the iconic roles, or how closely the show will follow the novels. This lack of concrete information has only left fans in a state of eager anticipation. Coben has previously spoken before about how protective he is of the Myron Bolitar character, even telling Jessie and Lennie Ware on their podcast that he's his "heart."
This is likely the main reason why the series adaptation has been moving cautiously in development. While I can completely understand and want to respect Coben’s careful approach, it's hard not to feel a sense of impatience as a fan. Years of waiting and seeing other series adaptations come out has not been easy.
Hopefully, we'll at least get a major update soon. Perhaps a casting announcement revealing who will be playing Myron? Now that would hold fans over for a while!
