How to watch and stream if Netflix movies get nominated for 2025 Oscars

The Academy Awards nominations for 2025 will be announced on Thursday, January 23, by Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott. You might have to get up a little early to see the noms, though. That is especially true if you work in the Hollywood film industry.

The Oscars themselves will be held on Sunday, March 2, from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and the host will be (thankfully) Conan O'Brien. Will he be part of a ceremony that hands out a lot of awards to Netflix movies? Maybe.

One Netflix film seems like not only a shoo-in to be nominated for Best Picture, but likely to win. More on that in a second. Here is everything else you need to know.

How to watch and stream the 2025 Oscar nomination (and see if Netflix gets lucky)

If you want to watch the awards being announced, you are in luck because there are an abundance of ways to tune in. You can watch live on ABC's Good Morning America program as well as ABC News Live (we promise that is really a thing). But let's say you have cut the cable and only stream. You are in luck there as well.

There are even more ways to stream. You can go to Disney+ or Hulu, as well as Oscars.com, Oscars.org (the Academy needed both the .com and .org, it appears), and all of the Academy's social media platforms. If you have a phone or a computer, you will be able to see the live stream of the announced nominations.

What time are the nominations announced?

You might have to get up early, depending on where you live. Or, you know, stay up late. If you live in Eastern Time, you are in luck. The nominations will be announced at 8:30 am ET. That means if you live in Hollywood and want to see if you have been nominated, you might get an early call close to 5:30 am PT. It will be a happy call, though.

What Netflix movies have the best chance of being nominated?

Netflix viewers likely know that Emilia Pérez will be nominated for Best Picture, and the film also has a good chance to win. Jacques Audiard also is expected to be nominated for Best Director. As there are up to ten films that can be nominated, but only five directors, this means if a director is nominated that their film has a decent chance to win.

Zoe Saldaña is almost a lock to be nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Emilia Pérez, and Selena Gomez has a chance to get a nod in the same category. Karla Sofia Gascón seems a lock to be nominated for Best Actress.

Besides Emilia Pérez, which could get closer to a record numbers of nods, other Netflix films with a decent chance of getting at least one nomination include Angelina Jolie for her role in Maria, Danielle Deadwyler for her role in The Piano Lesson, Azazel Jacobs for his screenplay of His Three Daughters, the documetary films Daughters, Will & Harper, and The Remarkable Life of Ibelin, and the animated film, Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl.
