Forget Santa Claus coming to town. This year, it's all about Hot Frosty coming to town! If you're a fan of the Michael Keaton cult classic holiday movie Jack Frost, you're going to adore Netflix's new Christmas romantic comedy Hot Frosty (out Nov. 13), which (as the title suggests) involves a sexy snowman coming to life. What are the holidays without a little magic?
In Lacey Chabert's first ever Netflix original Christmas movie Hot Frosty, the star plays a widow named Kathy who has been grieving her husband's loss for two years. When she unexpectedly helps animate a snowman that's designed to look like a conventionally attractive man, she soon begins to fall for Jack, the charming snowman turned human played by Dustin Milligan.
On Oct. 23, Netflix released the official trailer for Hot Frosty, revealing the heart and humor at the core of the cheeky holiday romantic comedy. Jack doesn't fully have the self-awareness of a regular human, so he's unknowingly breaking rules about nudity, using innuendos he doesn't understand, and overall has a bright disposition that's unlike the typical malaise of a busy adult.
It's his breezy and peppy qualities that endear him to Kathy and begin to thaw her heart, opening her up to love for the first time since losing her husband. The problem? Jack will eventually melt when the holiday magic that brought him to life wears off. We might think we can guess how this movie ends, but we'll have to wait and see what will happen for Kathy and Jack.
Christmas movie queen Chabert and Schitt's Creek star Mulligan are just two of the familiar faces in the Hot Frosty cast. You'll also see appearances in the supporting cast from Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Joe Lo Truglio, The Office's Craig Robinson, Mike & Molly and American Housewife's Katy Mixon, and Selling Sunset's Chrishell Stause.
Make sure to stick around until the end of the Hot Frosty trailer for a very exciting Easter egg for Mean Girls fans! A fun clip at the trailer's end finds Kathy and Jack watching Netflix's 2022 holiday rom-com Falling for Christmas, which stars Lindsay Lohan. Kathy muses that she looks like a girl she went to high school with. Of course, Chabert and Lohan both starred in Mean Girls!
Oddly enough, two weeks after Hot Frosty premieres on Netflix on Nov. 13, Lohan's latest holiday romantic comedy Our Little Secret premieres on Nov. 27. These are just two of the excellent new original Christmas movies coming to the streamer throughout November and December. Beyond rom-coms, there's an exciting thriller and a heartwarming animated movie for families.
Watch Hot Frosty only on Netflix beginning Wednesday, Nov. 13.
