Forget Santa Claus... Hot Frosty is coming to town! The new Netflix original Christmas romantic comedy Hot Frosty made its premiere on Nov. 13, and it's sure to become an annual staple for many of us who love a festive feel-good movie around the holidays.
In Hot Frosty, Christmas movie queen Lacey Chabert plays Kathy, a widow living in Hope Springs, but she's still not feeling so hopeful two years after her husband's death. When a sexy snowman magically comes to life, she finds a renewed sense of joy. However, Kathy and Jack's (Dustin Milligan) connection might have thawed Kathy, but they must stop him from melting.
There's no doubt that Hot Frosty is a must-watch this holiday season for its heart, charm, and humor. But if you've seen the trailer, then you know the movie puts a bit of a spicy spin on your average Christmas rom-com. But just how spicy does Hot Frosty get?
Hot Frosty has family-friendly TV-PG rating
According to the movie's official page on Netflix, Hot Frosty earned the family-friendly age rating of TV-PG, which is the rating given to movies and shows when parental guidance is suggested. Per the maturity rating, Netflix offers the category of "language" for parental guidance warnings. Wondering what else you should expect from the movie before turning it on for family movie night? Here's a guide to the content without spoilers!
Sex and nudity
There are no sex or intimate scenes featured in Hot Frosty, though there are a few instances of kissing between a male and female character. As for nudity, there's no explicit nudity in the movie, though Dustin Milligan's snowman-brought-to-life character is shirtless in multiple scenes.
In one scene, it's suggested that he's fully naked, though he's covered up from the waist down. In another scene, he unzips his bodysuit revealing his chest and abdomen, stopping at the waistband of his underwear.
Language and violence
While language is listed as a parental guidance warning, there's no excessive profanity in the movie that parents should be particularly concerned about. You won't be hearing any f-bombs dropped in Hot Frosty, just minor expletives like "damn."
As for violence, that's another aspect that shouldn't be concerning for this movie. An early scene features a character falling through a glass window, but it's not played as violence, it's not frightening, and it doesn't result in any injuries or gore.
Content and trigger warnings
A slightly more spoilery content warning for Hot Frosty involves the backstory of the main character. Kathy's husband passed away from cancer, and though it's not discussed about at length, the mention of a loved one's death and its resulting grief could be triggering for some viewers.
