'Happy Gilmore 2' cannot arrive on Netflix soon enough based on cast list

It's almost here, Gilmore fans.

Let's get the drama out of the way first. There is no firm release date on Netflix for Happy Gilmore 2. The expectation is that the film will arrive in 2025 (or, sadly, 2026) and be exclusive to the streamer. After all, the movie is part of the deal Adam Sandler has with Netflix. That means it's only good news for us who have our PCs or TVs constantly set on the streaming giant.

But there are several elements we do know about the film that is a sequel to 1996's Happy Gilmore. That movie was released in theaters on February 19. Might Netflix give us the gift of an early-2025 date for the new funny movie? Let's hope so, but it is doubtful.

Still, the streamer did deliver a teaser trailer the day after Christmas for the film. They even had a "Happy New Year" caption that implies we won't have to wait another year for the flick. Maybe Netflix is trying to say that the Sandman will produce his latest Gilmore at some point in the coming new year. Surely, that is the case, right?

Happy Gilmore 2 cast seems like a cant-miss to make a funny film

But that cast! Sandler returns as Gilmore, of course, and Christopher McDonald comes back as Shooter McGavin. Julie Bowen (Modern Family) plays Gilmore's love interest (it appears). Other cast members include Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio (Bullet Train), Conor Sherry, Ethan Cutowsky (Shameless), Maxwell Jacob Friedman (Ironclaw), and Phillip Fine Schneider.

Perhaps the most intriguing actor joining the film is Kansas City Chief's tight end (and Taylor Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce. The teaser shows Kelce as a waiter, but the guess here is that he will also appear playing golf. Kelce is not afraid to goof around off the field, and the podcast (New Heights) he does with his brother, Jason, is a blast.

In fact, Kelce said on a previous episode of the podcast that he would do nearly anything and any role to be involved in an Adam Sandler movie. Clearly, Sandler was listening as Kelce will show up in Happy Gilmore 2. The tight end will probably be one of many athletes to play a role as one would safely expect high-end golfers to take part, too. We might just not know who until the film is released (hopefully soon).
