Netflix has mastered the art of the teen drama. Over the years, we’ve seen countless shows fill our screens with high school angst, messy love triangles, and heart-tugging coming-of-age moments. But let’s be honest. None have done it quite like Ginny and Georgia. While other teen shows might come and go, Ginny and Georgia has cemented itself as one of Netflix’s most beloved and binge-worthy hits.

It's got the emotional mother-daughter dynamic of Gilmore Girls, the bold, rebellious teen attitude of Euphoria, and the dramatic small-town secrets and conflicts of Riverdale. What more could you ask for from a teen drama that has it all?

Fans have been blessed with season after season of this popular Netflix show, and now as we look ahead to the highly anticipated fourth season, the excitement is off the charts. In fact, there have been several exciting updates about the new installment recently, and of course, we'd thought we'd share every single one just in case you might have missed them!

 1. Production officially began on Ginny and Georgia season 4 in October 2025

Before the third season's premiere in June 2025, we already knew that a fourth season would eventually be coming since Netflix had already renewed the series two years prior. That's why after season 3 dropped, fans were quick to shift their focus to figuring out when production would begin on the fourth season.

However, the cameras didn't start rolling on the new installment as soon as the third season came out. There were rumors that filming on Ginny and Georgia season 4 would begin in late September of this year, but that turned out not to be true. We had to wait four months before production officially kicked off.

On Oct. 7, 2025, Netflix made the big announcement by sharing a short video starring the show’s lead actresses, Brianne Howey and Antonia Gentry. In the video, Howey and Gentry enthusiastically share that they’ve returned to the set for the first day of filming Ginny and Georgia season 4. You can check it out below!

2. Ginny and Georgia season 4 is confirmed for 2026 release on Netflix

Finding out that production had started was good news, but discovering that Ginny and Georgia season 4 will be released next year was even better! On Oct. 21, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos confirmed during the company’s Q3 earnings call that Ginny and Georgia, along with 11 other popular shows, are set to return with new seasons in 2026. This is incredible news for fans, considering we've had to wait longer between seasons in the past.

If you recall, the first season dropped on Netflix in February 2021, followed by season 2 in January 2023, and then season 3 in June 2025. With Ginny and Georgia season 4 coming out in 2026, it will have only been a year or so since the third season's release. That's a much shorter gap than the long waits between previous seasons. Production is rumored to wrap up sometime early next year. That said, our best release prediction for the fourth season is sometime in mid-to-late 2026. We'll get back to you with the official release date once it's announced.

3. Ginny and Georgia season 4 welcomes 3 new major cast members

This is the most recent update for Ginny and Georgia season 4. On Nov. 5, Netflix announced that three new major cast members are joining the series, bringing fresh faces and exciting new storylines to Wellsbury. Those talented actors are Ali Skovbye (Whistle, Firefly Lane), Kataem O’Connor (40 Acres, Heartland), and Sunny Mabrey (Will Trent, Gotham Knights).

Each will be taking on major recurring roles. Skovbye will portray a character named Rainn, O’Connor will appear as Isaiah, and Mabrey will portray Daisy. Although no character descriptions were revealed, fans have already begun speculating. Many believe that Rainn will either be a love interest for Max or for Marcus. Some fans even noticed that on the official Ginny and Georgia Instagram page, the actress who portrays Max (Sara Waisglass) in the series liked the photo announcing Skovbye joining the cast. The caption to the image also included a rainbow next to Rainn's name.

If you watch the show, you know that Max is a lesbian, and a rainbow is usually associated with the LGBTQ+ community. We could be reading into things, but there’s a chance that Rainn could be introduced as a new romantic interest for Max in season 4. Or perhaps, she could be someone Marcus meets while in rehab. When it comes to Isaiah, he's most likely Bracia's older brother. In the third season, Bracia mentions him and says his name. Last but not least, Daisy is most likely Georgia's mother. She's been mentioned in the show in the past as well.

Howey and Gentry will return as Georgia and Ginny. Also returning for season 4 are Waisglass, Diesel La Torraca, Felix Mallard, Scott Porter, Jennifer Robertson, Raymond Ablack, Katie Douglas, Chelsea Clark, and Nathan Mitchell.

Along with the announcement of three new cast members, Netflix also shared the official synopsis for Ginny and Georgia season 4. We shared it down below.

"Georgia Miller has dodged a murder charge! So life is finally back to normal. Except that the Millers are broke again. And Georgia’s pregnant and doesn’t know who the father is. And strange things keep happening, hinting that maybe Georgia’s past isn’t willing to stay buried. Ginny is desperate to break the cycle of chaos, and Georgia is desperate to prove to her kids that she can. And as for Austin, well … This season it’s him against the world. The family is at a turning point. But when push comes to shove, will the Millers be able to start fresh? Or will the past pull them back in?"
