Ginny and Georgia fans should officially be worried following Netflix's latest cancellations

Just when Netflix had started to shake its reputation for canceling more shows than it renews, the streaming service has reminded fans that no show is truly ever safe. There are so many shows that have been cancelled by Netflix in recent months, and yes, we’re counting both outright cancellations and those that have come via final season announcements.

Our most recent casualties have been a series of fan-favorites in romantic dramas Ransom Canyon and Sweet Magnolias and returning comedy A Man on the Inside, which had been previously renewed for what has now been confirmed to be its final season. These three shows join a growing list of Netflix Originals that have been canceled in one way or another in recent months, with Netflix seeming to be clearing house this year.

It’s enough to give fans of any Netflix show reason to panic, and I think it’s officially time we Ginny and Georgia fans begin hitting the panic button and bracing ourselves for the very likely possibility that season 4 will be the show’s final season.

When Netflix renewed Ginny and Georgia for season 4, it did not announce the season as being the final season; however, as we’re learning, that does not mean anything. There have been multiple instances in recent months in which a show was initially renewed only for Netflix to then later confirm that the previously announced season would be its final season. A Man on the Inside is the latest instance of this trend, with the show having previously simply been renewed by Netflix, later announcing the third season would be the show’s last.

We’re seeing this trend with a lot of shows lately, and I have a growing feeling Ginny and Georgia might end up becoming the next to join this list.

The creative forces behind the show have gone on the record on numerous occasions about how they initially pitched a four-season plan to Netflix. This has helped shape the narrative plan for the seasons and given them a road map to follow from season to season, building what will be the planned ending that was pitched via the four-season plan.

“We did always know where we wanted to end this season. When Sarah [Lampert] and I went in together to pitch to Netflix, we pitched four seasons, and knock on all the wood. We know where Season 3 begins and ends and we know the end game,” showrunner Debra J Fisher told The Wrap.

Not only do we know that there was a four-season plan in place, but when filming season 4 wrapped, star Sara Waisglass seemed to drop a major clue that season 4 will be the last. This is one that at the time we didn’t read too deeply into, but the framing of her message, which has been a point of discussion on Reddit, makes us wonder if the cast was informed that season 4 would be the show’s last during filming, as the message certainly reads like a goodbye to the character and show, not just a message commemorating the wrapping of filming on the season.

“That’s a wrap, wrap wrap! Love this cast. Love this crew. Max, I will miss you. Ginny and Georgia season 4 on the way people,” read Waisglass’ message posted to her Instagram Stories.

That message certainly seems to read as a goodbye to a character and show, and when you take a look at all of the evidence on the table from the goodbye, the four-season plan, and Netflix’s string of cancellations/final season orders, we can’t help but shake the feeling that Ginny and Georgia will be coming to an end in 2027 with the release of its fourth season.

It’s going to be disappointing if Ginny and Georgia season 4 is confirmed to be the final season, but the one silver lining is that fans should at least get a proper planned ending to the show, which is more than fans of other Netflix shows can say.
